Anadarko in West AfricaSince making the first deepwater oil discovery off the coast of Ghana in 2007, Anadarko and its partners have drilled more than 40 deepwater wells across the Ivorian and Liberian basins, finding significant success offshore Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

TENIn August 2016, Anadarko and its partners achieved first oil at the second major deepwater FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel) project offshore Ghana, called the TEN development, TEN is located on the Deepwater Tano Block and includes the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme oil fields.

School buildingsChildren’s Classroom Students from Côte d’Ivoire

International Rescue Committee (IRC)In 2014, Anadarko Côte d’Ivoire Company and International Rescue Committee (IRC) signed an agreement to improve access to schools and enhance safe learning environments for students in Western Côte d’Ivoire. To date, six primary schools have been completed and training against gender-based violence for approximately 6,000 students is ongoing.

Beyond the construction of the schools, Anadarko is supporting the IRC and School Management Committees (SMC) to maintain the schools, monitor enrollment, ensure sustained infrastructure management and teacher training. The successful partnership between Anadarko and IRC is also looking at opportunities to build additional schools, provide potable drinking water and continue programs around training to prevent gender-based violence.

JubileeFollowing the initial success at the Mahogany-1 discovery and subsequent discoveries in Ghana’s West Cape Three Points Block, Anadarko and its partners accelerated development of the Jubilee oil field. Jubilee achieved first oil in December 2010 – which at 40 months from first discovery to first oil, represented the fastest-ever comprehensive full-scale deepwater development.

PaonIn 2012, Anadarko announced a light-oil discovery at the Paon prospect in Block CI-103, offshore Côte d’Ivoire. The discovery well encountered more than 100 net feet of oil pay and confirmed the Upper Cretaceous fan system present offshore Ghana also extended westward into Côte d’Ivoire. Anadarko is currently appraising the Paon discovery and evaluating potential development scenarios.
