Confessions Daily
9:45 a.m. 5:00 pm.
Father Emmerich returns to Star of the Sea for the parish Mission, to reflect on the goodness, beauty, and truth of the faith with which God has gifted us.
Steps to Wholeness After a reflection on the classical Catholic definition of prayer, and taking his cue from St. Teresa of Avila’s requisites for a vital prayer life, Father’s conferences will spell out the concrete steps needed in the life of every wounded Christian — Christians wounded by Original Sin and by personal sin. Many are familiar with the writings of the Catholic convert Peter Kreeft, a professor of philosophy who has written over eighty wonderful books on Christian philosophy, theology, and apologetics. In one of his books he reminds us that we are addicted to sin. No one is addicted to patience, charity, humility, etc. We are addicted to sin and thus he calls us “sinaholics.” Thus Father Emmerich will focus on the steps needed by “sinaholics” that give us access to the life of grace as St. Teresa recommends. By leading the parishioners of Star of the Sea in an exploration of the guiding principles that lead to a deep inner peace in the midst of a troubled world, his conferences will focus on recovery from the effects of sin in our lives, and explore other issues of our spiritual warfare. He will briefly review the role of feelings and emotions in our lives. And he will help lead us through the way to heal our resentments, and much more as he exams the Steps that lead to the fullness of life and love.
Fr. Emmerich is a priest of the Holy Name Province of the Dominican Order and is currently ministering with Western Dominican Preaching.
For the past thirty-seven years he has been involved in giving retreats to Mother Teresa’s Priests and Sisters in Mexico, Poland, Guatemala, Calcutta, Russia, and Africa. He currently resides at Saint Albert Priory in Oakland, CA.
From a family with alcohol and drug addiction, Fr. Emmerich has studied the 12-Steps for his own healing and to help others to overcome obstacles and find peace.
His series of conferences for EWTN is entitled “The Eucharistic Principles of the Spiritual Life.”

WITNESS OF THE WEEK
The "Witness of the Week" initiative forms the students to no-tice virtuous behavior among their peers and highlights con-crete examples of how we can live a virtuous life. When either a student or staff member sees a student perform a virtuous act, they can nominate that student.
William was nominated by a fellow classmate, Primo Legaspi, for demonstrating the virtue of friendship when he helped one of the teacher’s who was holding a lot of things.
As part of the 4th grade study of Native tribes of Washington, the class created their own barter fair.
Students were able to negotiate and barter with each other to exchange their own goods for those of their classmates. Each student went home with a variety of new homemade goods!
