Respect Life weekend is Sept. 30th & Oct. 1st. This year will be a having a “baby shower” to benefit the local pregnancy centers.

Please join us for a special day of prayer on Sunday, October 1st beginning at 1:00 pm. Our guest speaker will be Judge Andrew P. Napolitano (Senior Judicial Analyst, Fox News Channel).
From the Desk of Father Ed: Dear Parishioners, Numerous times I have had the experience of walking in the crowded streets of New York City and observed that most people mind their own business; they don’t talk to anyone passing by or even make eye contact. Most people don’t even say hello as they pass each other on the streets and if someone does they immediately become cautious. Our Gospel this weekend reminds us that we must be concerned about our brothers and sisters who have fallen into sin. Firstly, we cannot simply ignore it, that is, walk by without saying a word as the many crowds do on the streets of NYC. We are united as members of the Mystical Body and therefore out of love for one another we must help our brother or sister to see their sin and to turn away from it. Jesus teaches us to first tell our brother his fault and not to make it publicly known. If he is unwilling to listen then take one or two others with you, and if he is still unwilling then bring it to the Church. All of us share in the responsibility to look out and to care for one another, especially when we see the salvation of another in danger. All of us are sinners yet God sent His Son to save us; He loves the sinner but hates the sin. Parish Life: Please be sure to join us for our parish picnic on Sunday, September 17th after the 11:00 am Mass. There will be plenty of food, games, and inflatable rides for the children and teens. Invite your neighbors to join us for the parish picnic especially those who no longer participate in the Church. This is a great way to get to meet parishioners and to welcome our new members. Feel free to bring a covered dish or a dessert. Sunday, October 1st is Respect Life Sunday. This year we are having a special day of prayer on Sunday, October 1st beginning at 1:00 pm. Our special guest speaker will be Judge Andrew P. Napolitano (Senior Judicial Analyst, Fox News Channel). The day of prayer will include Confessions at 12:00 noon, prayer service beginning at 1:00 pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and recitation of the Rosary. Hospitality will be served around 2:30 pm in the parish hall. Please consider joining us for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 21. Don’t miss out on the many graces and blessings as we journey to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception during the 100th year anniversary of our Lady of Fatima. All are welcome, no matter how much or how little education
you have completed.
Father Anthony J. Mastroeni is a priest with the Paterson
Diocese, who for many years taught theology and philosophy to
university students and seminarians. He holds degrees from
Seton Hall, a Doctorate from the Angelicum in Rome and a JD in
Civil Law from Rutgers Law School, Newark

SILVER AND GOLD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Couples, were you married in 1967 or 1992? You are warmly invited to celebrate your 25th or 50th Wedding Anniversary with the Church of Paterson. Bishop Serratelli will be the main celebrant at Mass at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson.

Arrangements can be made by contacting the parish office. Registrations will be accepted through Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Information will be sent from the Office of Family Life once your registration has been processed. Congratulations on this joyous occasion!
Sacraments of the Church: Baptism: Infant Baptisms (Private & Communal) are celebrated on Saturdays at 11:30 AM & Sundays at 12:30 PM. An instruction class on Baptism will be provided in advance. Please call in advance to make an appointment and to ensure that the Church’s requirements especially for Godparents are satisfied. Eucharist: If you are seriously ill or homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion please contact Father Ed. Adult Confirmation: Please call the office and ask about our religious education program for adults. Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Saturday 3:45pm-4:45pm, after weekday Masses 8:30am, during Adoration Monday evening 7:30pm-8:30pm and Friday morning 8:30am-9:30am, and anytime by appointment. Anointing of the Sick: Anyone who wishes to receive this healing sacrament, the Anointing of the Sick, should contact Father Ed. Marriage: Couples contemplating marriage are asked to call the office for an appointment to discuss the Marriage Preparation Program. Arrangements should normally be made one year in advance and before any wedding dates are finalized.
Food Pantry
Currently we are in need of the following items for our Food Pantry:
peanut butter, toothpaste, ,tooth brush, toilet paper, boxed potatoes, canned meats, snacks, juice, eggs, coffee, tea, canned fruit, desserts, cereal.
Our food pantry now serves over 100 local families. Thank you for your continued support and generosity. The hours for the Food Pantry are Mondays 12:00 pm—2:00 pm. We are closed on Holidays and for bad weather.

has continually urged us to pray the Rosary so that we can have peace in our world, in our parish, in our homes, and in our hearts. Our Parish Evangelization Team will be organizing and leading the Rosary.

If you would like to become a Catholic or have not received all of your Sacraments such as First Holy Communion or Confirmation this program is for you! The Adult Faith Formation and RCIA program is designed to help you grow in your faith and become fully initiated into the Church. Please call the office for more information.
