Respect Life Sunday Prayer Service

Sunday, October 1st In the Church

12:00 pm –2:00 pm

12:00 pm Reconciliation(12pm-1pm) 1:00 pm Prayer Service Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament & Rosary 2:30 pm Hospitality in Parish Hall

Guest Speaker: Judge Andrew P. Napolitano

Please join us for a special day of prayer on Sunday, October 1st beginning at 1:00 pm. Our guest speaker will be Judge Andrew P. Napolitano (Senior Judicial Analyst, Fox News Channel).

From the Desk of Father Ed: Dear Parishioners, Numerous times I have had the experience of walking in the crowded streets of New York City and observed that most people mind their own business; they don’t talk to anyone passing by or even make eye contact. Most people don’t even say hello as they pass each other on the streets and if someone does they immediately become cautious. Our Gospel this weekend reminds us that we must be concerned about our brothers and sisters who have fallen into sin. Firstly, we cannot simply ignore it, that is, walk by without saying a word as the many crowds do on the streets of NYC. We are united as members of the Mystical Body and therefore out of love for one another we must help our brother or sister to see their sin and to turn away from it. Jesus teaches us to first tell our brother his fault and not to make it publicly known. If he is unwilling to listen then take one or two others with you, and if he is still unwilling then bring it to the Church. All of us share in the responsibility to look out and to care for one another, especially when we see the salvation of another in danger. All of us are sinners yet God sent His Son to save us; He loves the sinner but hates the sin. Parish Life: Please be sure to join us for our parish picnic on Sunday, September 17th after the 11:00 am Mass. There will be plenty of food, games, and inflatable rides for the children and teens. Invite your neighbors to join us for the parish picnic especially those who no longer participate in the Church. This is a great way to get to meet parishioners and to welcome our new members. Feel free to bring a covered dish or a dessert. Sunday, October 1st is Respect Life Sunday. This year we are having a special day of prayer on Sunday, October 1st beginning at 1:00 pm. Our special guest speaker will be Judge Andrew P. Napolitano (Senior Judicial Analyst, Fox News Channel). The day of prayer will include Confessions at 12:00 noon, prayer service beginning at 1:00 pm followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and recitation of the Rosary. Hospitality will be served around 2:30 pm in the parish hall. Please consider joining us for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 21. Don’t miss out on the many graces and blessings as we journey to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception during the 100th year anniversary of our Lady of Fatima. 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal

In Giving, We Receive

The 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal is currently underway. This year, the theme of the Appeal is “In Giving, We Receive”. By being generous with our God-given gifts, we not only help people in need, but we also help ourselves. Jesus reminds us of the blessings that come from being good stewards. The Bishop’s Annual Appeal supports four causes: our Catholic Charities agencies; seminarian education, Nazareth Village, our diocesan priests’ retirement residence and our inner-city area elementary schools. You can help make this year’s Appeal an even greater success by making a generous pledge today. Every single gift is important, valued and changes lives. Whatever you do to help is a profound blessing!
