We have to tell our children not to talk to strangers. We have to take out insurance policies and have our contracts notarized. We live in an ugly, broken world in which we find it difficult to trust each other even in matters that are mutual- ly beneficial. On December 8, we celebrate the feast day of a World that is not fallen. We celebrate the truth that, right in the middle of this fallen world of ours, there is a World so beautiful and so pure and so free from sin that God chose her for His own dwelling. As St. Louis de Montfort famously preached, God made the earth for men and the heavens for the angels, and finding neither of these places suit- able for Himself, he made for His own Dwelling the Blessed Virgin Mary. On the feast of the Immaculate Conception, we celebrate the truth of our faith that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Son of God, is all- holy from the first moment of her conception in the womb of her mother, St. Anne. We celebrate Mary's Immaculate Conception, which her Son, Jesus, merited for her by His Death on the Cross in the most pure humanity which He took from her. We feel our hearts rejoice to discover this World that is not fallen and is ours, because she is our Mother too. We are filled with humble gratitude that God has given His own Dwelling Place to us as the dwelling place of our own hearts. We sing praise to Our Father in Heaven for having given to us our Immaculate Mother. Immaculate Mary wants us to live in her Immaculate Heart. She wants us to go there daily in the devout recitation of the Holy Ro- sary, in which we meditate on the Divine Mysteries that she keeps in her Heart. Live in her. In the midst of this fallen world, so full of sin and strife, find peace in the Immaculate World of Mary. She is Real Life. She is the Dwelling of God. She is our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope! As we prepare for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12, I would like to draw your attention to our recently re-finished shrine of Our Lady of Guada-lupe on the southeast end of the parish property. I want to thank our many gener-ous donors for their love for Our Lady and I especially want to thank Alfonso Sención for his generous leadership and hard work in the work of beautification. I hope that you find our shrine a peaceful place to encounter the motherly love of the Blessed Virgin Mary. -Father Previtali
