Court Our Lady of the Holy Trinity June, 2017
Message from the Regent Catholic Daughter SISTERS! The board and I can’t believe our first year is almost finished! It has passed so quickly. We have been truly blessed by all of YOU! In September, I asked all of you to consider what you could do to help YOUR Court serve and minister to God’s people, our brothers and sisters in Christ. YOU ALL answered that call just as Isaiah did! THANK YOU! Isaiah heard God saying, “Whom should I send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah answered, “Here I am. Send Me!” (Isaiah 6:8) In the last few months, we have had a VERY successful style show, helped the youth of our church by selling brownies at the Knight’s Friday fish fries, attended the 100th anniversary of the Texas state CDA convention, helped implement the Tyler Cup tradition with our parish youth, served our parish at the Holy Thursday liturgy and started a first Friday Rosary group to name a few. Please read all the newsletter for all the details. YOU have made this all possible by answering God’s call to serve.
Message from the Regent Cont…..
Looking forward to next year, we will be celebrating the Court’s 5th anniversary in August. Many of you are charter members and others, like myself, joined later. We will all be celebrating in August and more details will be coming. The 2018 Style Show has been booked again at Sonterra for April. Even though we take a break from meetings in June and July, I will keep everyone informed through email. Have a very blessed summer! We, the board, are here to serve you. If you need anything, please contact any us. Again, I want to thank all of you for all you do and the support you have given the board. We feel very blessed. Have a safe, restful and blessed summer (there will be NO meetings in June or July) and we will see everyone at in August!!! Sheryl

CHARITIES Christmas Daughters of Charity Summer Project Volunteers are needed for the Food Bank Project at Daughters of Charity Services of San Antonio this summer. The dates are June 26, July 24, and August 28. If you can help, please contact Annette at [email protected] or 210-827-0009. Our mission of Unity and Charity is affirmed by this quote of Saint Angela Merici, the founder of the Ursuline sisters: Be bound to one another by the bond of charity, esteeming each other, helping each other; bearing with each other in Jesus Christ. For if you strive to be like this, without any doubt The Lord God will be in your midst.

It has a been a great year for the CDA ladies. The Joshua Cup with Msgr Mike’s blessings was introduce to Life Teen with the help of Life Teen Director Ms. Debbie Gray. The Cup was renamed the Tyler Cup. The 5:30 Sunday Teen Mass is the Mass that the transfer to other teens and their family takes place. CDA donated a chalice to this project and sponsors this project.. Joyce Ullrich is looking for our own CDA ladies to help with the Joshua Cup this summer. We do need your participation . Please call Joyce Ullrich or email [email protected] . We will soon complete 365 days continuously praying for vocations . What a great accomplishment! We will donate four $350 gifts to the newly ordained priests. The ordination is May 20th , 10 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church. Our membership is invited. We will also donate $ 1000 to the Vocation Burse. This check will be given to Father Jonathan on April 22nd. Father Jonathan will also be our guest speaker at the August
meeting.

I was born in Robstown, Texas but raised in Michigan and Texas. I was working as a
beautician when I met my husband, Benito, in Corpus Christi. We lived in Corpus while
he was working for the Department of the Army. The Lord has blessed us with 45 years
of marriage. In April of 1977, we moved to Laredo, Texas where Benito worked for the
US Border Patrol and I worked in the professional field with doctors and financial
institutions. In September of 1988, Benito got promoted so we moved to San Antonio. I
decided to stay home and raise our girls. When our girls got a little older, I bought a gift
shop and owned it until I retired at age fifty. We have three wonderful daughters and five
grandchildren.
When we lived in Laredo, we were members of San Martin de Porras Catholic Church. I
helped raise money to brick the exterior of the church. As president of the Alter Society, I
helped with the live auction for six years. In addition, I was first chair of the auction at
Nuevo Santander Museum. In San Antonio, we were members of Prince of Peace Church. I
helped start and was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. I was
also active as a Eucharistic Minister. We transferred to St. Dominic Church and assisted
Father Paul in many endeavors and continued as Eucharistic Minister. We joined Holy
Trinity in 2006 and have been active as Eucharistic Ministers. I am a charter member of
the Catholic Daughters, Co-chair of the Seminarian Project, Co-Chair of the Joshua Cup
and I helped with the Tyler Cup get started with the Life Teen. I have taken Holy
Communion to the elderly. Most recently, I helped Co-Chair the CDA Style Show.
I love to read, play golf, swim and travel. My most recent trip was a pilgrimage to Italy,
Spain, France and Portugal.

REFLECTION CORNER Self—Forgiveness: On Good Friday, we worshipped, & commemorated the ultimate act of love & forgiveness in Jesus’ redemptive death by his horrific crucifixion. Up until the very end Jesus was forgiving all of us sinners from the cross as he was entreating God, ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do’ [Lk 23:34]. We want & cherish God’s forgiveness. We depend on it because we do not want to live forever in regret for past sins, with feelings of shame & guilt. So why do we often have such a struggle believing in our hearts that God has truly forgiven us & in turn forgiving ourselves? After all our ancient creed from 300’s, the Apostles’ Creed, professes that we believe in the forgiveness of sins. But often the act of self-forgiving takes time & is incremental, so is a process. But it is essential because forgiveness is such a potent antidote for anxiety, anguish, fear & hopelessness. The fruits of forgiveness are peace, freedom, & love. Nevertheless, forgiveness is frequently the most difficult gift to give ourselves. It is almost as if we are questioning God’s mercy in forgiving us because we feel so unworthy & are focusing too much on ourselves, & are forgetting that his love is unconditional with endless mercy. It does not depend on our goodness or holiness. Self-forgiveness lets us come to closure, to be at peace & have a loving heart. We beg God for the grace of forgiveness, so we should accept this gift in our hearts & until we do so we will be drained of hope & continue to be burdened with guilt. Self-forgiveness is for our own well-being. It is God’s reservoir of compassion washing over us like cool, clean water & leaving a healing calmness. Let’s embrace God’s forgiveness in the depth of our hearts so we can be healed, transformed & be able to live life to its fullest. Each time we beg God for forgiveness we should also ask for the gift of self-forgiveness. For reflection: I invite you to join me in self-examination for any issues or deeds that need the final healing of self-forgiveness & then take them to prayer.

Meeting of the Board
There will be a meeting of the Board
immediately after the service," announced
the pastor. After the close of the service, the
Church Board gathered at the back of the
auditorium for the announced meeting. But
there was a stranger in their midst -- a visitor
who had never attended their church
before. "My friend," said the pastor, "Didn't
you understand that this is a meeting of the
Board?" "Yes," said the visitor, "and after
today's sermon, I suppose I'm just about as
bored as anyone else who came to this
meeting."
