THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY

WE ARE EXCITED TO HAVE YOUSPEND TIME WITH THE LORD.

We will have Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday, May 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Benediction begins at 6:45 p.m. Please come for some time in quiet prayer and reflection with the Lord.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKThe parish finance committee is practical and realistic. Its responsibility is to ensure that nobody wastes parish resources. When it does its job well (and ours most

certainly does!), the temporal situation of the parish remains secure. That is why our finance committee is so concerned about taking proper care of the facilities we have (cf. last week’s reflection).

Parish council, by contrast, must be concerned with vision. God calls us disciples into God’s future, and getting there involves changing. When it does its job well (and ours most certainly does!), parish council ensures that we are adapting rather than stagnating, reaching out to embrace the future rather than pretending nothing will ever change.

For the past year or so, parish council has been pondering the question, “Does Our Lady of Peace Parish have the resources it needs to be the kind of parish we hope to be ten years down the road?” The discussion has reached the point at which members of the council will be seeking input from the parish as a whole. The consultation will probably take the form of an online survey which parishioners can easily complete. If it does, written copies of the survey will be readily available for people who do not use the internet or feel more comfortable using pen and paper. In any event, the purpose of the survey will be precisely to acquire information. We need to know where we are before we can determine where we are going and how to get there.

As was the case with last week’s message, this week’s is a kind of “distant early warning.”

Most Sincerely,Reverend Monsignor John G. Johnson

REST IN PEACEA Mass will be said May 6th at 8:30 a.m.
