FROM THE DESK OF FATHER DOOLEY This Thanksgiving week, I am grateful to the Lord to be your servant leader in our parish and school. May the Lord bless you and your families this week as we celebrate this important holiday. Safe travels to those who are traveling this week.
Here is a prayer for this week:O Gracious God, we give You thanks for Your overflowing generosity to us. Thank You for the blessings of the food we eat and especially for this feast today. Thank You for our home and family and friends, especially for the presence of those gathered here. Thank You for our health, our work and our play. Please send help to those who are hungry, alone, sick and suffering war and violence. Open our hearts to Your love. We ask Your blessing through Christ your son. Amen.

THE GIVING TREE FOR McARTHUR, OHIO
OLP will be hosting a Giving Tree for the St. Francis Outreach Center in McArthur Ohio between November 24 and December 8. Our efforts help support St. Francis’s campaign to provide Christmas Gifts for the children and young adults within their Service Community. Please select an ornament from the trees in the gathering space, which provide “suggested” gift ideas for a particular age group. During our discussions with St. Francis they have identified a need in fulfilling gifts for the young adult age group 14-18; please take this into consideration in making your gift ornament selections. Please bring your new and unwrapped present to the giving trees before any mass through December 8. Our “sleigh” will leave at the start of the 11:30 a.m. Mass on December 8th. Any questions, please contact Kevin Miller at 614-506-2510.God Bless,OLP Troop 169
THANKS TO GODOn Thanksgiving Day, we pray and give thanks to God for our many gifts. Please keep in your prayers the people who work hard to produce and prepare the food we eat. For prayers and educational resources about rural life and agricultural issues, visit Catholic Rural Life’s website at www.catholicrurallife.org.
PRAYED THE ROSARY LATELY?You (and your family) are invited to join the Knights of Columbus for a new parish tradition in praying the Rosary on the First Sunday of the month immediately after the 8:30 a.m. Mass – stay after the 8:30 a.m. Mass or arrive early for the 10:00 am Mass. We will provide Rosaries and even cheat sheets. We hope you (and your family) can join us on December 1. Our Lady of Peace, Pray for Us!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS DONUT
SUNDAYPlease join us on
December 1st for the next Donut Sunday.
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE NOVEMBER 24, 2019
WHY ARE THE RCIA PARTICIPANTS DISMISSED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MASS?On Sundays beginning in Advent, our adult candidates participating in the RCIA process are dismissed at the end of the Liturgy of the Word. This will continue each Sunday until Easter when, at the Easter Vigil, those who are ready will join us at the Table of the Eucharist for the first time. The parish is not sending them out because they are somehow “unworthy” to stay for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Though they cannot yet come to the table of the Eucharist, Mother Church still has an obligation to feed those who have entered into a relationship with her through the Rites of Acceptance, which happen on the first Sunday of Advent.
God’s Word is their primary food during this period. Instead of remaining for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the participants depart from the Mass with one or more RCIA team members to discuss the Mass readings for that Sunday and to experience more fully the impact of the Scriptures in their lives. This time is known as “Breaking Open the Word.” Through the dismissal to Break Open the Word, the parish community is invited to pray for the candidates, and in return the candidates experience a sense of belonging to a community that cares for them. We will have this dismissal rotate through all of our weekend Masses. Please feel free to introduce yourself to our candidates and offer your assistance in their faith journey.
FUNERAL MINISTRY BAKE SALEWe will have the Funeral Ministry Bake Sale on December 14th and 15th after all masses in the Old Rectory. We are asking all funeral ministry volunteers and parishioners to please bake! Please drop off your baked goods on Saturday, December 14th. The garage doors will be open between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. You will find us in the kitchen. Thank you for all your help in supporting our ministry. If you have any questions, please call Ellen Voltolini at 614-262-2459.
WHAT IS THE RITE OF ACCEPTANCE?When a person interested in joining the Catholic Church and the Church community believes that the person is starting to show some signs of a Christian faith and is ready to commit to becoming Catholic, the person is invited to celebrate a ritual called a “Rite of Acceptance.” This Rite will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace on Sunday, December 1 – the First Sunday of Advent – during the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
By celebrating this rite, the person is officially and publicly declaring his or her intention to enter into a formal relationship with the Church, learning its ways and participating in its lifestyle. The Church, in turn, accepts their commitment and pledges its support throughout the person’s journey of faith. Please welcome these individuals and keep them in your prayers as they continue their faith journey towards full initiation in the Church.

ST. VINCENT FAMILY CENTER Board games needed at St. Vincent Center. While young children at St. Vincent Family Center are receiving the quality behavioral health treatment they so desperately need, they also need to be reminded that they are just that – young children. And all young children, despite their challenging circumstances, deserve to play and have fun like all little ones do. St. Vincent Family Center is in need of new board games to fill their classrooms and play areas, to allow children the opportunity to learn and play with their peers and their families. Board games of all sorts are used during social skill lessons, family counseling sessions and play time to encourage relationship building, teamwork, life skills and FUN! New board games can be donated to St. Vincent Family Center at any time – contact Deb Huff, Development Manager, at (614) 252-2477 or [email protected] to learn more.
