Stewardship Reflection “He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” (MARK 6:8) How different we are from the Apostles who took nothing when

they ventured out to serve God. Today, we make our journey through life more difficult because of all the mate-rial baggage that we drag along. Yet, the more we can let go of, the freer we are to serve God with love and joy. We have an obligation to share with others, that which God has given us. Share your time, and talents. Men and women can become involved in the life of our Parish by becoming an Altar Server, Catechist, Choir Member, Lector, and/or Usher. By taking an active role in the li-turgical life, and service of the Parish, you can have a wonderful experience. Feel free to fill out the form on page 5 and drop it in the collection basket or call the rec-tory.

A Message from the Religious Teachers Filippini Please join the Religious Teachers Filippini in prayers of gratitude for the final profession of Sr. Diana in August and for the two young women, Luciana and Catherine, who are beginning the process of becoming Religious Teachers Filippini in the Affiliate Program. Also, please join us in praying for the young women in discernment with the Filippini Sisters: Vanessa, Melissa, and Shakana. All of us are called to holiness and to service, may these young women respond with a “YES” to God’s call for them as religious sisters. If God calls you, contact us for more information. Visit www.Filippinivocations.com or email Sr. Shirlee at [email protected].

Music Notes It's summertime everyone! The trees are all fully blossomed, the grass is lusciously green and yes, even the thunderstorms are back with all their vigor and might. Perhaps, now is a good time to reflect upon and to reconsider our relationship with nature, its transcend-ent beauty and its intrinsic parallels with God's gift of music. It can be said that both nature and music were created by God's word. Indeed, all that is good and beautiful was brought forth by the gentle loving word of God.

Surely, few things can be as beautiful as nature and music put together. As we enjoy these summer months let us rekin-dle our relationship with nature. Even the Vatican recently has been making statements about our oftentimes, neglectful actions against nature. Let's take some time this summer to reflect on our relationship with God's own physical world. Hear and listen to the transcendent harmonies of a gentle brook or the roaring grandeur of a thunderstorm. Listen to the unison of birds sing-ing or to the rhythmic pitter patter of raindrops falling on the surface of a pond. It is nature's music. For just a few moments, let's all put a halt on our 'texting' culture and reestablish our connection with nature. After all, is the ground not where we all came from? Today, let us call to mind that timeless hymn that we all know, 'How Great Thou Art'. The next time you hear it, think about how beautifully the composer blends in the elements of music and nature and how the grandeur of God is mani-fested within both. The power and omnipresence of God manifested in the 'lofty mountain grandeur' and the gentle ten-derness of God manifested in the 'birds singing sweetly in the trees'. Indeed, what an amazing gift that we have - to be creatures of this earth. Like God's gift of music, let us always protect, appreciate and cultivate the exuberant harmonies of nature with respect and integrity. Let all the earth and all that dwell within it proclaim the greatness of God! Andrew Cardona, Director of Music Ministry

Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal This year’s Appeal, Sharing God’s Blessings is a perfect opportunity for us to reflect on God’s generosity to us and to share the blessings we have been given with those around us. We are often reminded by our Holy Father Pope Francis and Sacred Scripture that in order to love one another we must share the blessings which God has provided to us. We are called to similarly share what is granted to us by God and return it to Him so that not one of our brothers and sisters goes without: without the gift of faith; without the essential human needs; and without a personal rela-tionship with Our Lord. We are called to Share God’s Blessings, and when we do, we find freedom and joy in proclaiming the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, just as the Apostles did over 2,000 years ago! Will you join your brothers and sisters in Sharing God’s Blessings? May God bless you for your generosity!

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for July That political responsibility may be lived at all levels as a high form of charity.
