Note from the Pastor: Last Wednesday, we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Coincidentally, in the last few days, I have been thinking about him and how the crucifix that is hanging in our church is like the one that is hanging in St. Damiano in Assisi, Italy. In my reflection, I was remembering that the crucifix in Assisi spoke to St. Francis and told him “go and repair my house”. St. Francis understood these words in a very literal way and began to repair the physical structure of the church. When he finished, Jesus told him, “I am not talking about the physical church but the human church, the people.”. One of my questions for Jesus is why if he wanted Francis to repair the human church, he didn't stop Francis from repairing the church building? Why wait until those repairs were complete to tell him the misunderstanding? I think that Jesus wanted both. I can imagine all the stress for Francis having to put together all of the people to help him rebuild the physical structure of the church. Jesus is telling me that through the physical repairs of our church, we can also repair the human side of our church. Putting in practice our own personal skills, I am sure that it will bring us together as a united community. I invite all of you to put all of your efforts to help us repair both the building and the community. I am inviting everyone to use their hands working together as a community in order to raise money. I am offering you very clearly the ways that we can be successful in fundraising. 1. Asking for donations in person or online at
mtcarmelalive.org 2. Being active with the Sunday breakfasts (if you
would like to cook a Sunday breakfast, you can be put on the schedule)
3. Selling your raffle tickets. If we sale all the raffle tickets, we can raise $160,000
4. We are putting together a cook off contest on November 4th and a Festival on November 5th. I am thinking that if we work together we can raise $50,000.
I am giving you practical ways to solve our problem. LET’S WORK TOGETHER TO SHOW OUR BELONGING TO THIS COMMUNITY OF FAITH, OUR LADY OF CARMEL! In Christ, Fr. Abelardo Cobos Pastor

Preparing for Next Sunday
28th Sunday in Ordinary Time In the first reading, Isaiah celebrates the generous and merciful nature of God, who blesses his people with an abundance of good gifts and saves them from sin and death. In the second reading from Philippians, Saint Paul teaches that it is through out faith in Jesus that we draw strength. The Gospel parable finds a king inviting guests to his son’s wedding banquet, only to realize that most are not fit to join the celebrations.
Preparación para el próximo
Isaiah 25:6-10a Philippians 4:12-14,19-20
Matthew 22:1-14
Why Should We Give of Our Time, Talent and Treasure?
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time In the Gospel today, the owner of the vineyard sent messengers to collect his share of the harvest from the tenant farmers but there was not a single good steward on the property! God is the owner, we are the tenants. What sort of stewards are we?
Porque Debemos Dar Nuestro Tiempo, Talento y Tesoro?
