For where your treasure is, there your heart willbe also. Matthew 6:21
Almost two months ago, our parish family began an "OnlineGiving Program" provided by Our Sunday Visitor (OSV). OSVserves millions of Catholics worldwide who now use this service. It is a not-for-profit organization and has one of the highestsecurity standards and most flexible capabilities of OnlineGiving. As pastor, I would like to thank each and every one ofour parishioners for their faithful support in giving to our parish, either through envelopes or are now using our online givingprogram. One of the most important reasons to utilize the onlinegiving program, is that YOU decide how much you would like togive, how often you would like to give and you can change itwhenever you would like. Summer...the season of vacationsand family commitments can affect the weekly offerings of achurch. Online giving was created to help keep the offertorystrong while parishioners are traveling. I'm sure you understandthat just because it is summer, the bills of any "house", still needto be taken care of. It really is a very easy process. You can access it by logging onto our websitewww.ourladyofmercyparish.com, sign up with your bank as aregular bill pay and you can even download an app for yoursmart phone. (search the app store on your phone or go toOLGapp.com and register with our parish) Your support, especially during these summer months, will help to sustain ourparish. It may also be a time for you to possibly revaluate whatyour contribution is and whether you can give a little more. Weall know that most of the "expenses" that we take for grantedhave gone up. And it's no different for the Church. TimWhitehorn, said: "Online giving can help parishioners be moreconsistent in their giving through automatic withdrawals fromtheir bank accounts or credit cards. Despite whatever our bestintentions are of trying to remember to write a check - whetherit's every Sunday, once or twice a month, how many gifts a yeardoes the average giver forget to give? Consistent giving. That iswhat online giving provides. I can only imagine 100 yrs ago -when people thought you should bring cash and put that in theoffering basket - that there were people who didn't think youshould write a check, you should just put in cash. Thingschange. Technologies change, but I think the spirit of giving iswhat's important". Whatever you can do to help our parishfamily, would be greatly appreciated.
Love and PrayersFr. Sean

LITURGY CORNERJune is usually the time we celebrate endings andbeginnings. Last weekend we celebrated ourannual Graduate Mass for all those of our parishfamily who are graduating from 8th grade, highschool and college. As they move on to high
school, college and the work force, I pray that they will takewith them the faith, hope and the good wishes of Our Lady ofMercy’s parish family, which will always be a part of their lives.I’m sure they go with mixed emotions, excitement andsatisfaction in their achievements, trepidation in facing anunknown and untried future. They know that hard work anddiligence will always be necessary if they are to achieve theirgoal. We congratulate all the graduates of our parish family andpray for God’s guidance in their lives as they move on. Soonschool will be over for everyone and summer will be here. Letus remember not to take a vacation from God and spend somequality time with Him during the beautiful months to come. May the summer sun refresh and nourish our hearts for the restof the year. Have a blessed week! Lisa
FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOMEach year the USCCB Ad Hoc Committee forReligious Liberty emphasizes the link betweenreligious liberty and service to the poor and
vulnerable and has proposed the theme of “Our First, MostCherished Liberty”. We are Catholics. We are Americans. Weare proud to be both, grateful for the gift of faith which is ours asChristian disciples, and grateful for the gift of liberty which isours as American citizens. To be Catholic and American shouldmean no having to choose one over the other. Our allegiancesare distinct, but they need not be contradictory and shouldinstead be complementary. That is the teaching of our Catholicfaith, which obliges us to work together with fellow citizens forthe common good for all who live in this land. That is the visionof our founding and our Constitution, which guarantees citizensof all religious faiths the right to contribute to our common lifetogether. Religious liberty is not only about our ability to go toMass on Sunday or pray the Rosary at home. It is aboutwhether we can make our contribution to the common good ofall Americans. Can we do the good works our faith calls us todo, without having to compromise that very same faith? Withoutreligious liberty properly understood, all Americans suffer, deprived of the essential contribution in education, health care, feeding the hungry, civil rights and social services that religiousAmericans make every day, both here and overseas.Fortnight For Freedom began on June 21 and goes until July 4th.We encourage you to pray as a family, however you would like, each and every day until the 4th. For suggestions on how youcould pray as a family, please contact me.Enjoy your week! Lisa
