HEALTH MINISTRY TIP: Fruits and vegetables make the perfect “grab and go” food, since most fruits and many vegetables, like carrots, celery, and bags of pre-washed snap peas need no preparation.

ADVANCE NOTICE: Ash Wednesday is March 5th which is the beginning of the Easter season. In order to offer our Lenten fish fries this year, we need a volunteer to head them. Kriston Galish needs to step down due to taking on a full time job but is willing to help get you started. Last year we profited $22,542.67 from this fund-raiser. That’s a lot of money for a 6 week project. You can even team up with another person to head them. If interested, please call the rectory (947-3363).

ON MISSION FOR THE CHURCH ALIVE! Go, Therefore, and Make Disciples of All Nations - The history of missionary activity in the Church is vibrant and fascinating. From the Apostles who first heeded the call of Jesus to “Go and make disciples of all nations” to fa-mous missionaries like Saint Francis Xavier and the Jesu-its or Saint Teresa of Calcutta and the Missionaries of Charity, there is a long tradition of those who have trav-eled far from home to bring the good news of Jesus to every corner of the world, even at the cost of their own lives. Today, the missionary work of the Church doesn’t have to take us to the ends of the world, but just to the end of our street. The message of hope and new life of the Gospel is ours to share with family, neighbors, co-workers and strangers as we seek to continue the work of Jesus in the world today. At its heart, On Mission for The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to be renewed in faith and sent forth to make new disciples in our parishes, our neighborhoods and throughout the whole world. Ask God for an abundance of his gifts to make this a reality in your life each day. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

REMEMBER your loved ones on Father’s Day by offer-ing a “Father’s Day Memorial” using the gold rimmed envelope in your packet. CLEARLY PRINT their names on the back and return the envelope in the collec-tion basket or to the rectory by Wednesday, June 6th. $5.00 per intention (over 5 names).

MAY IS NATIONAL NURSE MONTH Thank you to all the nurses who help in the Health Ministry here at OLOL and thank you to nurses everywhere - you all are “Compassion in Scrubs”. HEALTH MINISTRY: Health Fixes That Really

Work To Help You Live Longer and Better - For a stronger heart try slow-fast workouts. Couch potatoes in their 50s rebuilt heart strength and function with a doable exercise routine made up mostly of walking. A smart weekly workout could look like this: 1-2 days: 30 min-utes moderate-intensity exercise like a brisk walk. 1 day: 60-minute session of the same. 1 day: 30 minutes of in-terval training such as four minute bursts of high-speed walking, broken up by a slower pace to recover. 1-2 days: strength training sessions using weights or exercise ma-chines.
