Thank you! I want to express my gratitude to all who have made this Lenten-Easter season such a special time in
the life of our parish. Thank you to the liturgical ministers, to those who dedicated their time and talent
to decorate both the sanctuary and the Parish Center, to those who prepared the Friday dinners, to
those who worked so diligently behind the scenes to make sure we had a beautiful Lenten-Easter sea-
son. We sincerely appreciate your devotion to the parish.
The Easter season gifts us with a wonderful time and your kindness and generosity make it even more
special.
Fr. Victor Reyes
¡Gracias!

What does it mean to believe in the resurrection? In today’s gospel Thomas is struggling to believe. Our Lord however is very patient with him; he gives Thomas two chances. Either to believe without seeing or to believe because he has seen. Thomas, who was absent during the disciples’ first encounter with the risen Christ does not believe their witness, he wants evidence. The risen Lord obliges and a week later when he appears again offers Thomas his wounds to touch. Thomas instead of touching the Lord pronounces a profound profession of faith, per-haps the greatest Christological expression —“My Lord and my God!” Like Thomas, many struggle with belief and too often we want tangible evidence. We just don’t realize that the tangible evidence of the risen Lord is all around us. The other readings for today give us an abundance of clues: we encounter the risen Lord in the breaking of the bread, in the mercy, everlasting love and help of God, in the community living its belief in the risen Christ and carrying on his mission. Thomas was first challenged to believe without tangible evidence; we have the evidence in the good works of each other. For us is not seeing that leads to believe; it is believing that leads to seeing. Then like Thomas we can look and see and profess —“My Lord and my God!”

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
Jesus meets the need of each disciple. To the fearful in the
upper room, he speaks words of peace. To doubting
Thomas, he provides the tangible proof of his resurrection.
What do I need to become his disciple? What do I have to
share that might meet someone else’s need?
