Guadalupe Parish and plan to attend a college or

university in the Fall of 2020. Students must have

class. Additionally, students must be actively involved

requirements should contact Eleanora Bazile-Brooks at

Many thanks to Donaldo Batiste for donating his Hammond organ to our church. We were in need of one since the past one was unable to be repaired.

Many thanks to the Knights and Ladies Auxiliary of St Peter Claver for their gifts. I am now the best dressed priest in New Orleans. You are much too generous and I am grateful to all of you.

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,

On this Sunday after Christmas we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. As we look at the Crib scene we are reminded of the Holy Family gathered in the midst of a barn surrounded by animals…but what kept them close was their love and devotion to each other.

I once heard it said that: “Strong families make a strong society... Weak families make for a weak society”. Today, more than ever, the family is under attack. We see it every day. In many cases, we are raising a generation of children who are raising themselves.

I pray daily for families, especially for those going through difficult times. St. Paul tells us the ingredients in making a strong family. I call this a Family Gumbo. He tells us put on: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another and forgive one another and over all these put on love.

May each of us try our best during this coming New Year to make a great Family Gumbo. What ingredients do you need more of in your family?

Have a Happy and Blessed New Year,

Fr. Tony

Farewell to Fr. Walter who will be moving on to a new assignment in Belleville, Illinois. He will be leaving us at the end of January. We will need to give him some warm winter gloves and hat…it is

cold up there!!!!!!!

On this Sunday, Dec. 29th

we will celebrate: “Christmas at St. Jude’s”. Our choirs will sing at 5PM in the Church followed by a Dessert Social in

the St. Jude Hall. Bring your favorite Christmas cookies or dessert to share . Remember Christmas does not end on Dec. 25

th. We still have the 12

days of Christmas to enjoy the Feast. Bring your friends.
