Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
With the return of “Ordinary Time,” we return to the bulk of the Gospel, the stories of the Jesus’
life and ministry. We have nearly two months until the start of Lent, which begins this year on Wednes-
day, March 1st. The term “Ordinary Time,” comes, not because this period of time is plain and unexciting,
but from the Latin for “Ordinal Numbers,” first, second, third, and so on… So, “Ordinary Time” simply
refers to the numbering of the weeks, not their character. Fear not. They won’t be boring.
This period of time brings in the second half of the Faith Formation year, the continuation of our
CYO program, and just trying to make it through winter without going too stir crazy. By the end of the
week, we’ll even have a new president, for better or for worse. Let’s keep American in prayer. As we
make our way through these days, let’s also keep each other in prayer and continue to support one another
as brothers and sisters in Christ. And may the blessing of God’s peace be upon you all!!
Fr. Michael

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE from the
Office of Family Life Education (a Hope Appeal

Can you say “I have testified Jesus is the Son of God?” If you aren’t talking about Jesus in your family, you aren’t testifying. If you are not talking your talk, your children will see your words as meaningless. Yarn Ministry Meeting this Wednesday, January 18th at 7:00 pm in the Fr. Hobbes Room. WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT MINISTRY will be meet-ing on Wednesday, January 18th at 1:00 pm in the Re-source Center. WE’s mission is to empower women to overcome poverty and oppression through education, finan-cial and emotional help. Please join them. EVERYONE is welcome! Holiday Baskets: Once again you are a wonderful parish, your food basket contributions helped 140 families both at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
