third sunday of lent / 30 Domingo de Cuaresma 3

from our administrator fr. William HubbardDear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima,

It is that time of year again when children get really nervous about their first confession. I can remember the day of my first confession, but the only thing I recall is how nervous I was! As a priest, sitting on the other side of the nervousness is a heartwarming experience. The opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with children is always a grace-filled time. On March 8 we had 68 children confess for the first time and on March 22, 72 more. Many thanks to Rosa Rama, director of faith formation, and all of the catechists who are helping our children to know Jesus and know that his love covers all our sins.

Lent is a great opportunity for all of us to confess our sins in the Sacrament of Confession if you don’t regularly get to confession. It can be a great help in our preparations for Easter. Knowing this, the parishes in our area have set up evenings this week and next week to facilitate people getting to con-fession. The schedule of the penance services is listed here in the newsletter. If it is time for you to get confession, make it a priority.

Also, on Saturday, March 29, we will have our cleaning day. If you have some time to donate, come help us get our church building shining bright and free of dust! It will be great fun as we clean and the parish will provide tacos for lunch. The day starts with Mass at 8am and will end around noon.

This week CRS Rice Bowl invites us to enter into solidarity with the people of the Philippines. We are encouraged to re-flect on the Catholic social teaching principle, Option for the Poor, and reminded of Jesus’ words: “Whatever you did for these least of mine, you did for me.” Let us pray this week for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines and all around the world, that we see the face of Christ in the poor among us.
