Anointing of the sick
If you foresee a surgery or medical procedure, contact the
rectory to make arrangements to receive the Sacraments
of the Anointing of the sick and Holy Communion before
your hospital visit.
Communion to the homebound
For those unable to attend Mass due to illness
or disability, arrangements can be made to receive Holy
Communion weekly by an Extra Ordinary Minister of
Holy Communion. Please contact the rectory.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, which requires the attention
of a priest, please contact the rectory at any time.
Please notify the rectory, so that the priests are aware of
the situation and can assist as appropriate.

luncheons for families and friends of deceased mem-
bers.
Because of busy schedules and time constraints, we
have decided to ask for volunteers through email.

Easter Egg Hunt 2015
Children and families are invited to an Easter Egg
Hunt at the SPC immediately following the 11:00am
Easter Mass on April 5.
Light refreshments will be provided ... and LOTS of
Easter eggs!
Donations of candy may be placed in the Easter
Egg Hunt donation bins at Our Lady of Consolation
Church and the Schneider Parish Center.

Our parish recently received notification of the per-
formance of some of our high school students in the
First Semester of this school year.
We are particularly proud of those who demonstrated
academic excellence.

NIGHT AT THE RACES
Mark your calendar for the annual “Knight at the
Races” at the SPC on Saturday, April 11, at 7:00pm.
Doors open at 6:00 pm, so come early and enjoy the
trivia, great food and beverages.
Between races, our trivia expert will test your
knowledge of unusual facts and will award prizes to
those who know the correct answers.
Admission is only $5, payable at the door, and in-
cludes beer, soda and food. BYOB mixers are also
provided.
Post Time for the first race is 7:00 pm.
Forms are available at each worship site to buy and
name your own horse. Please buy and name your
horse by April 5 to make the deadline for printing the
programs.
The cost is only $10 and the winner in each race pays
$50.
This year, the event will benefit our Early Learning
Center.
It’s not too early to begin to get your group together
for a great time and a great cause.
OLC-ELC will be closed for Spring Break from
Monday, March 30, through Monday, April 6.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 7.
Preschool registration for the 2015-16 school year is
in full swing - Don’t miss out! We offer classes for
children ages 2, 3, and 4/5 with flexible extended-
day options available for potty-trained children.

We are proud to offer Scholarships to our preschool
families; however, your child must be registered to
apply. Applications are now available. Deadline to

BASEMENT NEWS
Many of you may already know we are finishing the
church basement. When completed, the basement
will be available for many types of small gatherings.
A small usage fee will probably be charged to partial-
ly cover our costs.
We have been blessed to have an anonymous donor
contribute $10,000 toward our efforts.
We also wish to thank the following who have been
donating much time and energy to this project: Pete
Muldoon, Joe Ward, Benny Rigoroso, Albert Bryson
& The Knights Of Columbus, Mark Agen & St. Jo-
seph’s Guild, Rob Wishneski and our own Doug
Rohrer!
Due to health department regulations, requirements,
and associated costs, we are not installing a full
kitchen; instead we will have a kitchenette with ov-
ens and electric receptacles for small appliances.
There will be a comfortable seating area.
Because our budget is tight, we are asking parishion-
ers to donate money for furnishings, such as sofas,
end tables, lamps, rugs, etc.
The old metal chairs will be replaced with much
more comfortable ergonomic chairs. We are plan-
ning to purchase about 100 chairs @ $25 each.
To date, we have raised enough to buy 40 chairs.
The furnishings and final touches are being coordi-
nated by our very own Gretta Festerman.

PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY
Please remember in your prayers all the men and
women who are serving our country in the armed
forces.
Lord, protect them and their families for the selfless
acts they perform for us.

Financial Peace University- Update!
The Stewardship Committee would like to provide
an update regarding Financial Peace University
(FPU) right here at Our Lady of Consolation.
According to Dave Ramsey, we all need a plan for
our money.
Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan!
It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through
video teaching, class discussions and interactive
small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practi-
cal steps to get from where you are to where you've
dreamed you could be.
This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, man-
age your money, spend and save wisely, and much
more! The Stewardship Committee at Our Lady of
Consolation Church prayed for 6 families to register
and have 12 people attend, each registrant is encour-
aged to bring their spouse or an accountability part-
ner to the class.
Well, God showed up again and we have 17 regis-
trants and close to 30 people attend FPU each
Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00 pm to learn about
God’s principles for money, to develop a game plan
to win with money and encourage other members of
the class in their journey as well.
We will offer FPU again in the spring and I expect
another great turnout. Please think about becoming a
member of the next FPU class which begins April 9,
2015. One way to do this is to attend a class as a
guest.

March 29, 2015— Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion Reflection by Rev. Leonard N. Peterson
There is a certain blunt aspect in Mark’s writing style. So we should not turn to his account for flowery lan-
guage or enticing details. There are not many miracle stories. Nor do we pause much along the way.
It is a story of action. This first and oldest gospel hastens along, heading for the Passion story that takes up
three quarters of its content.
That last thought, knowing the story well, could possibly be an obstacle to benefitting from it. Fans of Charles
Dickens and James Michener’s styles, for example, might be put off by Mark’s lack of details.
But sometimes details can get in the way of the main point.
For Mark, Jesus is indeed the king of Israel. But He is more. He is prescient, for instance, about everything
that happens to Him, which is far beyond the abilities of an earthbound king.
Jesus is also a definite victim of the worst in human nature. Yet Mark has Him standing out as superior to all
the other characters we meet.
The fact of Jesus being God, undergoing all that we read this Palm Sunday to free us from the shackles of sin
is “mind blowing.” The fact that everything in the tale is true induces wonderment. The added fact that Jesus
endured all that He did out of love for us is entirely awesome.
All of that invites us to have a reflective Holy Week.
First Reading: Isaiah 50:4-7
Deutero (or “Second”) Isaiah tells us that he, like most of the previous prophets, has been ignored and harshly
treated, but his confidence in God is unshaken.
Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11
There is a general agreement among scholars that St. Paul is here quoting an ancient hymn of the early Church.
First we read of Jesus’ humiliation and then of His resurrection triumph.
The Passion Narrative: Mark 14:1-15:47, or 15:1-39
Mark’s gospel now comes to its major point: the Passion. Jesus knows in advance what will happen to Him,
and He always behaves as a kin would and not as a victim.
