A Roman Catholic Community Devoted to Stewardship Founded 1963
Parish Mission Statement WE, the people of Our Lady of Consolation Parish guided by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to continue the mission of Jesus Christ who announced the reign of God. We accept His challenge to proclaim the Good News of salvation that Jesus, the Christ, died for us, and in Him we have life to the fullest measure. We seek to live as He lived, in service to others, building a community of faith and hope, with God’s grace as our strength and the peace of Christ our heart’s desire.

A Message from our Pastoral Associate…
Dear Parishioners, Today’s reading from Hebrews contains the only explicit definition of faith in the Bible. “Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.” Note that faith is defined in terms of hope. People of the Old Testament lived by faith… Abraham left his homeland, accepted God’s promise that he and his descendants would become a great nation. He lived his life by faith and with hope (trust) that Yahweh would fulfill his promises. Moses, Samuel, David and many others took a leap of faith to follow Yahweh’s direction to the Promised Land. This reading from Hebrews invites us to realize the characteristics of faith and hope in our own lives and everyday experiences: knowledge of unseen realities, generous response to God’s call, faithful endurance in the face of suffering and death, and hopeful trust in God’s promises. We each have our own stories of the journey of our personal, and family or community lives that hinge on faith and trust in the Lord. God carries us through times of chaos and crisis as well as times of joy‐filled dreams and promises. Do we believe that God will lead us to the Kingdom of true happiness and eternal joy? The Lord comes to us when we least expect… the Gospel reading tells us: be ready to await the Master’s return… you know not the day or the hour… Let us be vigilant servants and be prepared for the Lord’s coming….

NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Wisdom 18:6‐9 In this excerpt, the Israelites are reminded that they were warned before God sent an angel to slay the first born of the Egyptians. God called on them to have courage, and then rewarded them by punishing their enemies and leading them from captivity. Second Reading: Hebrews 11:1‐2, 8‐19 Faith is described as true belief even toward things we cannot see. Abram's faith in God was so deep that he wandered through a foreign land, convinced God's promise of a homeland was sincere. God honored his promise to give Abram many descendants, and was proud of the deep faith Abram and his people possessed.

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is proud to announce the fall opening of their Saturdays at the Center program (SATC)! DPD is a nonprofit, Catholic Charities organization in the Diocese of Paterson that provides support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
This endeavor is designed for young adults with disabilities living in the community, who are interested in weekend socialization and recreational activities with their peers.
Education about group home and independent living is also part of the curriculum. Respite time for caregivers of the participating individuals will be provided, as the program is well supervised by experienced staff and volunteers.
SATC will meet Saturdays at Gruenert Center on Rt. 15 in Lake Hopatcong and will run for a 12 week span. Meeting times are from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. The tuition for the entire program is $120 plus minimal additional fees for special activities such as bowling or dining out.
They are seeking interested participants and volunteers for their fall start date of September 17, 2016.
