Special Collection
Please remember the Octo-ber Special Collection, which is open for the entire month. Like Christmas and Easter, we depend on this special collection for fuel and electric bills. Is it possible to hope for at least $5,000? Please say yes! The oil and electric bills are coming and will certainly hit us hard. If every registered parishioner contributed at least $50 to the October Collection, we would actually reach over $10,000! Thanks for your generosity!

Mensaje De Nuestro Pastor Permítanme tomar algo con ustedes de información básica y al-gún plan que esperamos para la comunidad parroquia
Edificio Escolar La Escuela Pública 315 ocupa ahora el edificio escolar. Yo me reuní con el principal y elpersonal y buscamos en adelante re-unirnos otra vez en el futuro para ver donde podemos venir y encontrar y proponer actividades para nuestros jóvenes fuera del horario escolar. Ahora mismo, estamos nosotros en el proceso de tener acceso propio dentro del edificio en los tiempos designados y poner dentro del contrato con el Sistema de la escuela pública. De acuerdo al contrato que tenemos con la escuela, aquí están los tiempos específicos en la lista cuando estemos hábiles para usar el edificio: Miércoles en la tardes de 6.30PM a 8PM; Viernes en la tarde de 6.30PM a 9PM.; Sábados por la mañana de 9AM a 12 del mediodía y finalmente los domingos de la mañana a la tarde. El único obstáculo ahora mismo es tener el permiso propio para entrar en el edificio. Los abogados de la Arquidiócesis están tra-bajando en esos detalles con los abogados del Departamento de Educación. ¡Mucho papeleo! Mi esperanza es tener una sesión de basquetbol en el interior del Gimnasio los sábados por la maña-na, también usar el edificio de la escuela los Domingos para nuestras recepciones, reuniones parroquiales y para nuestra re-caudación de fondos ¿Recuerdan el Huevo d Oro? Consejo de Planeación Parroquial Como ustedes saben, nosotros renombramos el consejo parroqui-al a Equipo de Liderazgo compuesto por los líderes y repre-sentantes de nuestros grupos parroquiales. El Equipo de Lid-erazgo ha sido de ayuda cada vez que hemos tenido diferentes eventos parroquiales y programas. El Consejo de Planificación Parroquial ha sido también una ayuda en asistir a tomar mejores decisiones para la parroquia llamando desde asuntos financieros a eventuales cambios en el horario de Misas. Pronto traeremos a un consultor para ayudar al Consejo de Planificación Parroquial para profundizar y fortificar su rol. Si usted está interesado en seguirnos al Consejo de Planificación Parroquial, por favor déjenmelo saber, o, quizás usted pueda querer sugerir a mí y yo puedo seguirlo.
Ministerio Juvenil Con la pérdida del gimnasio estos pasados años, nuestros jóvenes tienen disminuido su trato. Esto es dar la bienvenida al sobretiempo de los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia a encontrar su lugar importante aquí e Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles. Espera-mos nosotros recuperar el gimnasio los Viernes pero también queremos acomodar en un nuevo programa para nuestros jóvenes para que ellos puedan estar más envueltos en la comunidad par-roquial y, más importante, que ellos puedan crecer en su rela-ción con Jesús. ¿Quizá usted esté interesado en seguirnos en el Ministerio Juvenil? Llamando a Todos Los Grupos Parroquiales, Todo el Minis-terio de Misas: Ujieres, Servidores Lectores, Ministros Euca-
rísticos y Miembros del Coro Tampoco es tarde para echar una Mirada a todas las sociedades parroquiales y hacer una reflexión Interior ¿Quiénes somos no-sotros?, ¿Dónde estamos?, ¿Dónde estamos ahora?, ¿Dónde queremos ir? ¿Cómo podemos hacerlo? Yo prepararé in formu-lario de evaluación con esa clase de preguntas y Realmente bus-caremos en adelante reunirnos con todos los grupos muy pronto. Por favor esté atento.

From the Pastor’s Desk
Permit me to catch up a bit with you on basic information and some hopeful plans for the parish community.
School Building Public School 315 now occupies the school building. I met with the principal and staff and we look forward to meeting again in the future to see where we can come together in our community outreach and propose activities for our youth out-side of the school schedule. Right now, we are in the process to get the proper access into the building at the designated times we put into the contract with the public school system. According to the contract we have with the school, here are the specific times listed when we are able to use the building: Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8PM; Friday evenings from 6:30 to 9PM; Saturday mornings from 9AM to 12 noon and finally on Sunday mornings through the afternoon. The only obstacle right now is getting the proper permits in order to en-ter into the building. The Archdiocesan lawyers are working out the details with the Department of Education lawyers. So much red tape! My hope eventually will be to have an intra-mural basketball session in the gym on Saturday mornings as well as to use the school buildings on Sundays for our recep-tions, parish meetings and even fundraisers. Remember the Golden Egg?
Parish Planning Council As you know, we recreated the parish council into a planning council and renamed the parish council the Leadership Team composed of the leaders and representatives of our parish groups. The Leadership Team has been so helpful whenever we have had different parish events and outreach programs. The Parish Planning Council has also been so helpful in assist-ing me to make better decisions for the parish itself ranging from financial matters to eventual changes in the Mass sched-ule. Soon we will bring in a consultant to help the Parish Plan-ning Council deepen and fortify their role. If you are interest-ed in joining this Parish Planning Council, please let me know. Or, perhaps you may want to suggest a name to me and I can follow up.
Youth Ministry
With the loss of the gym these past few years, our outreach to youth has waned a great deal. It is overtime to welcome the youth of our parish to find their important place here at Our Lady of Angels. We hope to regain the gym on Fridays but also we want to usher in a new program for our youth so they can be more involved in the parish community and, more im-portantly, so they can grow in their relationship with Jesus. Perhaps you are interested in joining us in Youth Ministry? Give me a call.
Calling All Parish Groups, All Ministers at Mass: Ush-ers, Servers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Choir
Members It is also long overdue to take a good look at all of our parish so-cieties and do some self-reflection: Who are we? Where have we been? Where are we now? Where do we want to go? How can we get there? I will prepare an evaluation form with these kinds of questions and I really look forward to meeting with all groups very soon. Please stay tuned.
Please pray with me to the Holy Spirit to guide our steps and to help us all to grow in holiness. There’s much work to do but how happy we are to be able to do it!
