    Fall 2019

Introducing JoyRide, a non-profit organi-zation founded in 2018 by Denise Green, longtime resident of Snohomish County. Denise and her family recently moved to Stanwood after the untimely death of her husband of 39 years.

Denise met Mclaurine Clarke of Vahalla Farm in Stanwood last January. As they got to know one another, they realized they had much in common. Denise had the vision for JoyRide and Mclaurine had the facility and the horses, who have all been trained with Mclaurine’s Heart Centered Horsemanship®. They both had great love for horses and years of experience training horses and people with kindness and patience.

JoyRide connects people with horses, hard work and nature. Denise have spent her life doing just that. She and her children worked very hard to keep and care for their beloved horse family. Denise’s riding students became her kids’ best pals. They rode together, worked and played together, having adventures in the great outdoors. As they grew in stature and skill they also competed at horse shows together, which often involved camping out and sleeping under the

starry sky. All of Denise’s kids and friends will tell you theirs was a truly wonderful childhood.

Magic happens between a person and a horse when both are in a safe and caring environment. When those elements are absent, magic often turns into misery. Denise has dedicated her life to making sure both horse and human feel safe and cared for when they are together. She has been helping humans and horses build loving, trusting rela-tionships with each other for over 35 years. What Denise’s students learn from horses empowers them to overcome and master life’s

challenges. Denise received her Horsemas-ters certificate from Potomac Horse Center in 1982 and became a therapeutic riding instructor in 1992. Denise has had the priv-ilege of learning from her many incredible horses, ponies and riding students over the years. Now Mclaurine and her horses are instructing Denise how to be a more Heart Centered® person.

JoyRide combines education, farm and stable work with the enjoyment of nature to benefit both horse and human. Participants may either donate financially

to the program or work for their education. Hard work is an import-ant part of their education. Stable and farm work as well as building relationships with the horses are both educational and therapeutic.

JoyRide offers lessons in classical dressage and jumping with opportunities to compete in shows and events if so desired. Denise has competed herself extensively and trained with Olympic-level instructors. Working with Mclaurine and her horses at liberty, Cavalia-style, is an essential part of JoyRide’s program. Creativity to develop equestrian art and theatre is encouraged. The back gate of Vahalla Farm opens up to Pilchuck Tree Farm, which has miles and miles of gorgeous riding trails, nature at its’ finest. In all these activities, safety is first and foremost, followed by ensuring the comfort, well-being and enjoyment of the horse and rider partnership.

JoyRide and Valhalla farm invite you to “Come and see!” what adventures await you. Contact Denise Green @ 425-273-0447…call, text or email at [email protected]
