Novena Prayer for an end to the Coronavirus Pandemic
O Mary, full of grace, Patroness of this nation and Mother of the Church, in
this time of illness and world-wide need, we seek your intercession for the
human family before your Son’s throne of grace and mercy. We ask for
strength in adversity, health in weakness, and comfort in sorrow. Help us, O
Blessed Mother, to be filled with confidence and trust in the tender
compassion of our God. Let us not be afraid, like our own Saint Marianne
Cope, who entrusted her life and ministry among the outcasts of society into
the care of our Divine Physician. Continue to watch over all who are sick as
well as those who care for them and give wisdom to all who are seeking a
cure. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Anima Christi (prayed by St. Elizabeth after Communion)
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
for ever and ever. Amen.

Parish Mission Statement The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, united in the love of God, comes together to
worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, to provide for the spiritual growth of each member, to minister to one another’s needs, to be servants and neighbors to all, to strengthen and share faith, to experience the richness of Jesus Christ. The Catholic community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, aware of its call to be the good news, accomplishes its mission through worship, education, service and personal example.
May God Bless and keep safe in his care our Service Men and Women whose lives are in danger every day. They heroically
serve to defend and maintain freedom around the world as well as at home. Our prayer for them reflects our great admiration and love for them. May God bless them, watch over them, and protect them always.
Diocesan Prayer for Vocations “God, my Father, you created me with a specific purpose for my life; this is my vocation. By
following your plan, I will be happy on earth, earn the reward of heaven, and help others to do the same. Please help me to hear, understand, and follow your call with my whole heart, especially when it seems most difficult. Saint Joseph, patron of the Universal Church, pray for me to know and accept God’s will for my life. Amen.”
Welcome Fr. Mulhauser It has been nearly a year and a half since we have had the joy and pleasure of celebrating Mass with
Fr. Dan. We are so excited that he will be with us for the 11:00AM Mass this weekend as he marks 70 years since first entering the Jesuits on August 17, 1951.
Office closed on Thursday, August 19th Our staff has been working hard this summer with a lot of improvements and
programs. They will be enjoying a well-earned day off this Thursday and the office will be closed. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Anna Asks “What is the Scriptural Rosary?” The Scriptural Rosary is a modern version of the way the Rosary was prayed
in the late Middle Ages when people recited a different meditation before they said each Hail Mary. These thoughts described some event or incident in the lives of Jesus and Mary. The Rosary presented here adapts this custom by drawing its thoughts directly from the inspired writings of the New and Old Testaments, bringing the power of the Word of God to the Rosary for a really powerful prayer. Try the Scriptures suggested below before each Hail Mary of the fourth Glorious Mystery in the Rosary, The Assumption of Mary into Heaven. 1. The Lord God said to the serpent: "I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers." (Gn.3:15) - Hail Mary/ 2. "He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel." (Gn. 3:15) - Hail Mary... 3. A great signappeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. (Rv.12:1) - Hail Mary... 4. "Father, all those you gave me, I would have in my company where I am." (Jn. 17:24) - Hail Mary...5. Wherefore she is our mother in the order of grace. (Vt. II, Constit. on Ch. 61) - Hail Mary... 6. Taken up to heaven, she didnot lay aside this salvific duty, but by her intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation. (Vac. II, Constit. of Ch.62) - Hail Mary... 7. "For he has looked upon his servant in her lowliness." (Lk. 1:48) - Hail Mary... 8. "All ages to come shallcall me blessed." (Lk. 1:48) - Hail Mary... 9. "Those who love me I also love, and those who seek me find me... For he who findsme finds life, and wins favor from the Lord." (Prov. 8:17-35) - Hail Mary/ 10. Come then my love. My lovely one come. (Song2:10) - Hail Mary...
Our Daily Bread - On our kiosk in the gathering area, we have CareNotes which are a ministry of the monks at Saint Meinrad
of Archabbey, a Catholic Monastery in Indiana. These booklets are written to provide guidance and support in a concise and easy to read format on real life situations such as grief, aging, family, mental wellness and spiritual needs. Whether they are for a friend, a member of your family or for yourself, please take a look at our topics ranging from children to adults. As always our CareNotes are free. We rotate our CareNotes, if there is a topic that you have seen in the past or are interested in that you do not see on the kiosk, contact the office and we can locate it for you.

August 14th is the feast day of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Fraciscan priest and founder of the Knights of the Immaculata.
Canonized in 1982, Pope John Paul declared him “The Patron Saint of our Difficult Century,” “My aim is to institute perpetual adoration,” he says, “For this is the most important activity God dwells in our midst in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar.” SEAS invites you to bring your difficulties, your prayers, and your love to Adoration on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm and Fridays from 7 to 9 am.
Faith Formation Teachers Needed! If you are interested in volunteering to teach Faith Formation classes for grades 1-6,
please contact Julie ([email protected]).
Are you (or is someone you know) looking to become Catholic, or to receive the Sacraments of Initiation? Now is a better time than ever to reach out and inquire about how to do it! The “Inquiry Phase” of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), or the window of time to ask about how adults enter the Church is always open; it is as simple as having an informal conversation with Fr. O’Connor or Deacon Bill. God longs to be in deeper relationship with us, and it was through his Son, that we have been given the Sacraments as powerful, tangible realities for us to encounter the living presence of God. What are you waiting for?! Jesus is asking, “Do you believe that I can do this for you?” (Mt. 9:28) Let Him work in your life, accept his simple invitationhe has been thirsting for you. Call the office at (315) 652-4300 to set up a conversation today.
Electronic Offerings Thank you to the numerous parishioners who continue to send in their offering envelopes. Perhaps you
are looking for another way to do that. If you have online billing with your bank, you can request the bank to mail a paper check to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at no cost to you or the parish. This can be set up on a recurring or one-time basis. We ask that you note your envelope number on the check either as the account number or in the memo line. Often this can be set up online through the “Bill Pay” section of your bank account website.
To St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish: Thank you so much for the very generous contributions for Erin’s Angels! The Parish has
been so kind and thoughtful to the children from Phoenix Elementary School who are in need of food. It is appreciated. Fondly, Erin’s Angels.
American Red Cross Blood Drive- St. Elizabeth Ann Seton will host a community blood drive on Thursday, August 19 from

Save the Date: August 28/29 Parish Celebration at all Masses Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was born on August 28th. To
mark this special day, Bishop Lucia will be celebrating all Masses that weekend. We will have opportunities after each Mass to gather, to linger, and to enjoy each other’s company. Details will follow about the food and fun we have planned as we continue this special bicentennial celebration.
Sharing The Season – The Seton Food Pantry is looking for any gardeners in the parish willing to share their home grown
produce this summer. If you have a productive year and are looking for somewhere to share your extra fruits and vegetables, the Seton Food Pantry would welcome the items. Please contact Jennifer Guild, Coordinator at 315-652-4300. Thank you.
Children's Liturgy (Birth-8 grade) is again at the 9:00 AM Mass. Children younger than 1st grade should be accompanied by
a parent. Children will be dismissed after the Welcome and return after the intercessions to you In the gathering space they will experience and participate in the readings, a short reflection, and be able to share their thoughts on the Gospel through question/answers. Students in grades 6-8 will also be there helping. If you would like to help facilitate this, then Safe Environment Parents should contact John Sheridan 315 427 3294 to get on the schedule.
Vocation Perspective Mary’s eventual Assumption into Heaven started with her “yes” to become the Mother of Jesus. Pope
Francis reminds us that for us, “Every ‘yes’ to God is a step toward Heaven.” If God is calling you to become a priest, deacon, religious sister or brother, then will you say yes? Call Father Jason Hage at 315-470-1468, or write: [email protected].
A Prayer Chain is in place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Serving on the Prayer Chain is a way for good people to serve God and
to bring blessings to others who will be grateful for the prayers of Prayer Chain Members. If prayers for self or for others are needed and desired, please call the Parish Office at 315-652-4300 and your prayer requests will be forwarded to Angie Peterson.
