Volume 62 - Issue 30 Orangevale Rotary Newsletter Thursday, May 21, 2020 The State of Orangevale Orangevale Rotarian and Orangevale Chamber President Brad Squires gave an update about the state of Orangevale. COVID-19 has impacted communities and has created hard challenges. A few businesses are thriving but that is not the norm. It has set a dire and sad tone for the town. Due to the quarantine, the Big Day of Service was cancelled. The Pow Wow Days and the Casa Roble High School graduation are cancelled. Orangevale is an amazing community and there are some bright spots. There is a a new mural painted on the building where Bad Fish and Palmer Real Estate is located. It was painted by Alexa and it is 40 feet long. She painted farm scenes, an old truck, horses, and a ferris wheel. In the proposal for the mural, she included a llama which she painted from a stock photo. It turns out that the llama was Brad’s llama. The chamber would like to havemore public are, perhapsonthewallbehindthefamers’market.

The chamber organized a great from GLOVE andSACCOG. Themeeting today at the chamberwilldiscusshowtousethegrantmoneytoorganizethecommercialcorridor. Threeconsultantshavebeeninvited to bring ideas for the future. Greenbackpropertyownershavebeeninvitedtoo.

Another bright spot is that the farmers marketstartedlastThursdayandwillcontinueuntiltheendof September. It is the 11th year of the market. There was record attendance but fewer vendors.Therewereonly foodvendorsand theboothsarespacedout.

Other bright spots are that some local businessesare reopening - Bad Fish, James the Barber, andOrangevaleCopy. It’scoolthatRotarywillsupportanother day at the Fair Oaks - Orangevale FoodBank. There aremore clients that ever using thefood bank and support has grown for the foodbank.

Regarding the Orangevale Library expansion, moving the Last Tangle to the front location hasbeen slow. After the salon is relocated, then thelibrarybuildoutcanbegin.
