Product Overview & Description

The Multilink Camera Control Assembly provides integrated unctionality in powering and controlling

a video camera at a remote location when used or monitoring trac density, reporting local weatherconditions or used in surveillance activities. The camera control assembly operates rom standard ACpower using the commercial utility line as the source. Isolated outputs include 24 volts AC used to power

the associated camera and DC outputs that provide operating power to internal circuits. Once the cameracontrol unit has been installed and integrated into the balance o the video monitoring system, operation

is largely automatic and requires no human intervention.

Control unctions are provided through RS-232 and RS-485 circuits that are connected to a dedicatedcomputer at a remote location. Connectors provided on the camera control unit allow or local control viaa laptop computer communicating through the RS-232 port.

During normal (unattended) operations, the remote computer communicates through the REMOTE

connector on the rear panel o the controller assembly. I intervention becomes necessary at the camera

site, a laptop computer communicating through the LOCAL connector on the ront panel o the controllerassembly may be used. Internal circuits in the controller assembly monitor or the presence o data on theLOCAL port. When data is detected, an internal relay automatically switches control rom the REMOTE portto the LOCAL port. Time delay circuits keep the relay latched in local control mode or a predetermined

(adjustable) period o time. When no urther local data is detected ater the time delay, the internal relayautomatically deaults to the REMOTE port, thus resuming normal (unattended) operations.

Visual indicators (light emitting diodes, or LEDs) have been provided on the ront panel or verication

o operational status. The CAMERA ON indicator illuminates when 24 VAC power is available to the videocamera. The SYSTEM ON indicator illuminates when power is applied to the controller assembly. TheLOCAL ON indicator illuminates whenever local computer control is applied.

A number o lters and surge protectors are provided within the camera control assembly or protection

o power, data and video circuits. Main AC input power is applied through a power entry moduleincorporating supplementary overcurrent protection (use), an ON-OFF switch and EMI ltering. A number

o surge protectors have been incorporated to protect the camera control unit rom overvoltage surgesthat may originate rom outside sources. These surge protectors are connected in the video and cameradata circuits.

MP PLUS TRUE UPS POWER SUPPLY


The MP Plus power supply traces its roots to services started in 1998 with its orerunner,

the MP True UPS. At that time, power supplies based on the true UPS concept constitutedthe largest trouble-ree installations o any ITS/DOT network power supply in the world. The

key to part o this success is the universal input that allows this particular power supply to

operate rom a wide range o voltages. Consequently, line voltage spikes, sags, and minor

surges that occur daily on the AC utility lines are absorbed in the input circuits o the MP

Plus power supply. I a brownout, blackout or momentary loss o AC power occurs, the

transer to the battery backup inverter is seamless with absolutely no power anomalies
