Creating Keepsakes

Living PetsFor the living pets in your household, the process begins withselecting a keepsake from the many options in this booklet oron our web site at www.meadowhillco.com.

Aging or Deceased PetsIf your pet is nearing the end of life, or has just passed, now isthe time to capture a paw, nose or other print.

Service ProvidersMeadow Hill works with a number of professional serviceproviders who can help you capture the prints. These peopleinclude your local veterinarian, funeral home, pet cremationservice or pet cemetery. They capture the print for you andtake care of ordering your selections.

Print SourcesMeadow Hill can also work with prints from a variety of othersources, such as clay, plaster or resin molds of prints andclose-up digital photographs.

Pets have an uncanny way of working themselves intoour hearts. These four-legged family members make uslaugh and provide comfort and protection. They makefew demands and never judge. Our best buddies justlove us!

Now, Meadow Hill’s Buddies Beloved Pet Keepsakesremind us of that love wherever we go.

Buddies start as two-dimensional ink prints of the paw,or nose. ( We can work with clay or resin molds andclose-up digital photographs as well.) Meadow Hill scansyour print, creates a wax model of it, giving it a thirddimension. Then our artisans use the time-honoredmethod called lost wax casting to make each uniquepiece. Hand polished, your keepsake is finished with theengraving of your choice. Additional pieces of the sameprint can be ordered at any point in time.

Buddies keepsakes invite touch. The simple stroking ofthe charm makes you smile when you are away fromyour pet. It also brings comfort and a way to rememberthe buddy who is no longer with you.

Ink Kit InstructionsStep 1. Move the ink pad tothe animal, gently tapping onthe paw or nose (if allowed)two to three times.

Step 2. Place a scrap pieceof paper on a firm surfaceand bring it to the inked pawor nose and gently touch it.Repeat this process until youare satisfied with the look ofthe practice prints. Nowre-ink the paw or nose andcreate fresh prints on theorder card or a clean indexcard.

Simply staple the betterprints to the order card.Meadow Hill’s artisans willselect the best one forcasting and will “clean up”unwanted hair lines aroundthe pads.

Face StylesAbout the size of a dime, Standard Buddies charms come invarious face styles including a pawprint, a noseprint and abroad category called “OTHER” (e.g. horse hoofs, bird talons,hamster claws, etc.)

Use this same technique for capturing a noseprint. The ink isvegetable-based and will not harm your pet. An alternative toan ink print is a close-up digital photograph of your pet’spaw. Unfortunately, a digital photograph of the nose does notproduce the quality that is required.
