But my wife was very upset then. We went to the churchgate sea front . The big bright disc ofsun was about to set in the Arabian sea. The whole sea ,the sky and the coast line of Mumbaiwas glittering with golden brown sun light. Every face watching towards sea was looking sobright and happy . My wife who was sad with the closed shop was no longer looking gloomy. She was devouring the sight with all attention.

At one point she even candidly expressed that seventeen years back it was a search for bedwhich made us to travel entire korba city and discovering that small lovely jamnipali villageand today the same search has brought us to this beautiful sea front. Search of bed alwaysreveals good to us.

She was absolutely right. Next two hours we strolled on the sea front. The sun was setting . Theentire sky and the sea became golden brown and then slowly turned into crimson red. Thesouth mumbai sea line got sparkled with the light of brown golden sun. I have never seen sobeautiful Mumbai sea line. Even long after sun set the trace of that soft light remained on the

sea face. It was absolutely beautiful. The traffic too seemed stalled from time to time as ifstealing a view of this majestic scene.

Almost two hours we were there like in a trance which was finally broken by my cell phone. Our daughter was calling. Time to leave this place. With a promise to come back to this placeagain we left for the churchgate station to catch our return train.

Back home my wife discovered another carpenter shop here in Powai, the Primo. We wentthere and a bed was selected. The price was astronomically high at RS:25000. My wife saysthat's a very common price for such kind of bed. I had to agree to that exorbitant price but onequestion ! what would happen to our existing bed ? The salesman was smart enough and saidthat he would send one man next day who deals in used furnitures. After seeing the bed hewould set up a price and would takeaway accordingly.

A haughty looking man appeared next day at 8 PM. After listening to all the good words fromme about our good old bed he offered me to pay RS:400 (RS:200 a piece..!). I never became sopuzzled in my life. With all dignity I told him that I would not sell off the old bed. He wastrying to raise the price to RS:500 but I sent him off.

My wife was highly displeased with my decision but she also agreed that our sweet old bed cannot be so cheap. The wood is good and bed is absolutely working since last seventeen years.

My heart says that I must have a better means of disposing it off.

Sanjay , our electrician works in our office. He works for a contractor who in turn works forour office. In a way Sanjay is not a highly paid electrician. However, he is sincere andwhenever he works for my office I help him with small tips. Next morning I called for Sanjayand told him ,”Look Sanjay, this bed is yours with only one condition, you cannot sell it socheaply”.

Sanjay was very happy at my offer and told me that ever since his son was born last month hewas searching for a bigger bed and my offer was just god sent. He profusely thanked me andtold me that he would take away the bed on the required day.

Next week I was out on official tour. The new bed was delivered on Tuesday ,they alsodismantled the old bed and Sanjay came with his brother and took away the old bed and themattresses. The haughty man telephoned me one last time to say that he was ready to payRS:1000 for the old bed. I said him to forget it because almighty god has already given it tosomeone who needs it.

After I came back Sanjay showed me a picture of his home wherein our old bed was proudlyplaced and on it his six month old son was kicking.

Thank God we did not sell off our bed so cheaply.

Thanks Sanjay.
