Delivering quality healthcare close to home is the single most important contribution we make. But there are many other ways we make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Here are a few of the ways we are making a difference. Capital improvements $ 4,274,708 Total taxes paid $ 5,391,518 Annual payroll $ 82,985,866 Average number of employees 1,261 Helping those in need $ 5,861,210 We are committed to ensuring the delivery of needed healthcare to all members of the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Last year, Memorial Medical Center delivered more than $5.8 million in services to individuals without the ability to pay for their care. New physicians During the past year, Memorial Medical Center added 31 new physicians to our highly respected medical staff. Fourteen of these were much-needed primary care physicians. The balance included specialists in obstetrics and gynecology; general surgery, including the first colorectal surgeon in the region; medical oncology; cardiology; gastro-intestinal disease and pediatrics. “Charity and other uncompensated care” includes hospital costs not covered by Medicaid reimbursements and supplemental payments, as well as charity care and bad debt. “Physician recruitment costs” include recruitment costs and support of new physicians’ initial practice establishment in the community. Payroll includes consolidated salaries, wages, benefits and contract labor costs. “Capital investments” include facility expansions/renovations, equipment purchases, technology replacement, information technology additions/updates, and routine facility upkeep and maintenance.
