Otavalo Market - In the morning our driver will meet you at your hotel in Quito for a transfer north to the famous Indian market in Otavalo. The hustle and bustle of this colorful market is a great experience and you can admire great handmade crafts, ponchos, alpaca blankets and a variety of textiles – this is a great place for souvenir shopping! Our tour also takes you to the traditional local food market, where you can learn about the fruits and typical products the merchants offer there – you can find some tropical fruits that perhaps you have never seen before. If there is enough time we can also pass by one of the textile workshops and observe how the textiles are hand woven. After Otavalo we continue to the tranquil Hosteria Pantavi nearby Ibarra.

Liberty Train -ride to Salinas de Ibarra - After breakfast our driver takes you to the train station in Ibarra where you will take the Train of Liberty to the town of Salinas. It´s an amazingly beautiful train-ride through arid mountains, over bridges and through tunnels. In Salinas you will be welcomed by the local Afro-Ecuadorians and enjoy their culture, music and dances. You will also have time for a short visit to the salt museum and get to know all about the salt mining process. In the late afternoon we head back to the hotel where you can enjoy fine dining and the artwork of Camilo Andrade.

Chachimbiro hotsprings - After breakfast we will take you to the natural hot water springs in the village of Chachimbiro where you can enjoy the great views while bathing in the medicinal hot water springs. In the afternoon we transfer back to Quito with a short stop along the way to try the special ¨bizcochos¨ (traditional savoury biscuits) and leaf-wrapped cheese in Cayambe.
