Oswego Police Department POLICE CADET The Village of Oswego Police Department is seeking applicants for a Police Cadet. The Village of Oswego offers tuition reimbursement at Waubonsee Community College for an Associates degree in Criminal Justice (reimbursed after completion of each semester with proof of cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale), plus a part-time salary of $9.00 an hour (non-classroom hours) for this position. Candidates should possess strong communication, customer service and organization skills; must have the knowledge and ability to perform tasks in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets. Generally work 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be added during off semester time. Flexible scheduling for purposes of working around a school schedule will be available. Applicant must be prepared to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and evenings as needed. Duties may vary based on ability and assignments. Candidates must be enrolled in Waubonsee Community College on a full time basis; a US citizen age 17-20 years; a resident of the Village of Oswego, and/or an Oswego School District high school graduate, unless otherwise allowed by the Chief of Police. Additionally, Police Cadets must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. The selection process includes a personal interview, a polygraph examination, medical examination (including drug screen), and background check. The estimated start date for this position will be late May 2013. Disqualification for a previous position does not preclude a candidate from applying for this position.
