OSTOMATE 1-PIECE SYSTEM

The OSTOMATE budget ostomy system is of high quality but cheaper than other systems. Because the pouches of this system are only available with starter holes, the 1-piece OSTOMATE range can be limited to only 10 types of pouches for colo-, ileo and urostomy. This allows great savings in manufacturing and logistics.

OSTOMATE II SYSTEM

The Ostomate II range is offered at a price which is considerably lower than that of similar wafers and pouches, yet this is a premium and excellent ostomy system which fulfils the highest quality requirements. This 2-piece system consists of wafers and pouches with a 38 mm, 45 mm, 57 mm or 70 mm flange. The wafers are only available with a start opening, which must be cut to size. This generates a saving which also benefits the pouch user.

Universal systemThe Ostomate II wafers are virtually identical to ConvaTec Natura wafers. In practice you will not notice the difference, so converting to Ostomate II wafers is very easy and saves money! In addition to matching the Natura system of ConvaTec, Ostomate II wafers are also compatible with the COMBIMATE system by EuroTec, together with the Tandem system by Hollister.

A NEW GENERATION 1-PIECE POUCHES

The 1-piece Colomate, Ileomate and Uromate SuperFlex pouches are finished with a soft flexible adhesive wafer. The plastic film of the pouch is welded well away from the aperture of the pouch enabling the aperture to be stretched and moulded to the required shape and size. The pouch will never cut into the stoma, even if the hydrocolloid has completely dissolved.

Superflex pouches are available with many pre-cut stoma openings. These stoma openings can easily be stretched if they are slightly too small. For a stoma diameter of 27 mm a size 25 mm can be selected and stretched up by 2 mm. Cutting to size will rarely be necessary. The stoma opening will also expand to allow for the passage of solid stool. It is even possible for the adhesive to adapt to a retracted skin area.

Pouches with an oval adhesive wafer are not available in a SuperFlex version.

ORDER CODESCOMBIMATE SUPERSOFT FLANGESCOMBIMATE SuperSoft flanges are superior in terms of softness, flexibility and comfort. This is the result of the final top foam layer. They are also safer than many other flanges, where the rigid top layer can potentially damage the stoma when the adhesive layer has melted. This effect is precluded with SuperSoft flanges. COMBIMATE SuperSoft flanges are available with many pre-cut openings that can be stretched if needed. This mostly eliminates the necessity for cutting to size.

COMBIMATE SuperSoft flanges are available in the sizes 38 mm, 45 mm, 57 mm, 70 mm, 85 mm and 100 mm.

These EuroTec flanges are fully compatible with ConvaTec’s Natura system (except 85 mm).

The flexible hydrocolloid skin barrier conforms to the contours of the skin, even if this is somewhat retracted.

The opening can be stretched easily and will also expand during the passage of solid stool.

The stoma opening can easily be stretched. With a stoma of 27 mm a 25 mm opening can be selected and stretched. The stoma opening will also expand with the passage of solid stool.

COMBIMATE CONVEX FLANGES

Convex flanges are used with stomas which are flush or retracted and particularly when the surrounding skin is moist and irritated. As no other, the COMBIMATE Convex flanges will perform well under these conditions. To support the secure adhesion of the flange in a retracted area, the use of a support belt may help (see pages 72, 74 and 75).

The COMBIMATE Convex flange has a large hydrocolloid surface. Available in Convex (FC) and Extra-Convex (FXC) version and with many pre-cut openings and starter holes. The opening can be easily stretched a little bit if necessary.

Extra-Convex flanges are to be used only for deeply retracted areas, after consulting a stoma care nurse.

Combimate Convex wafers are available in the flange diameters 38 mm, 45 mm, 57 mm and 70 mm.

For compatible Combimate pouches see pages 31, 32, 43, 44, 45, 57 and 58.

These wafers are fully compatible with the ConvaTec Natura system. Pouches and wafers of these systems are matching.

COMBIMATE convex flanges are available in Shallow Convex and Extra Convex.

COMBIMATE ADVANCE FLANGES

COMBIMATE Advance flanges are reinforced with strong polyester fibers, and are designed mainly for people with a weak parastomal musculature. The wafers are flexible and comfortable, but will help to prevent bulging out of the skin area around the stoma. In many cases it is advisable to wear a stoma support belt (see pages 74-75).

COMBIMATE Advance flanges are moisture permeable and have a Classic Hydrocolloid Stoma Adhesive of 1.5 mm thick with a high absorption capacity and no added elastomers. For external support of a larger skin surface where a parastomal hernia may be developing, ADVANCE EXTRA LARGE flanges may be of help. The large adhesive surface measures 15 x 15 cm. To prevent drying out or curling of the edges, these can be picture framed with VARIMATE THIN strips VMT 0522 (see page 68).

COMBIMATE Advance wafers are available with flange diameters 38 mm, 45 mm, 57 mm and 70 mm. The Extra Large wafers have also 85 mm and 100 mm flanges.

From these 6 flange diameters, 5 are compatible with Convatec Natura pouches (the ConvaTec range does not include 85 mm flanges).

This product is designed to be applied to an abdominal wall with weak

musculature to prevent bulging etc. The use of a support belt is advisable in these

circumstances.

COMBIMATE XL FLANGES

The extra large COMBIMATE XL flanges are available in several versions and for different applications.

COMBIMATE SuperSoft XL are designed specially to be used on extremely bulging skin areas, such as a serious parastomal hernia. If the flange is too rigid or too small, it is not easy to attach this securely onto such a spherical surface. The stoma opening can be cut to size and can be stretched for a good fit. The soft foam layer will never cut into the stoma, not even when the adhesive layer has melted down.

COMBIMATE Advance XL flanges are reinforced with polyester fibres and specially designed to support the skin over a bulging hernia. See product information on page 18.

All COMBIMATE SuperSoft XL flanges are compatible with ConvaTec Natura pouches (except 85 mm flanges).

Are you a user of the 2-piece Coloplast system?Try our FLEXIMATE flanges!

These flanges are extremely flexible, can be stretched up with the stoma and have a large moist absorption capacity. These flanges are available in flange sizes 40, 50 en 60 mm, and are fully compatible with the pouches of the Coloplast Assura and SenSura Click system.

Now Coloplast users can also benefit from these superb flanges. Of course EuroTec also offers Fleximate pouches in various models, that are compatible with Coloplast flanges (see page’s 33, 46 and 59).

The FLEXIMATE flanges have no added synthetic rubbers but contain much gelatin for an optimum moisture control, resulting in a good skin condition. The extreme flexibility of the hydrocolloid barrier results in good skin contact, even in retracted areas.

50 mm and 60 mm and these will match perfectly with the Coloplast Assura and SenSura stoma pouches. Now, Coloplast users can also benefit from these superb flanges.

The FLEXIMATE flanges have no added synthetic rubbers but contain much gelatin for an optimal moisture control, resulting in a good skin condition. The extreme flexibility of the hydrocolloid barrier results in good skin contact, even in retracted areas.

FLEXIMATE Convex flanges are available in diameters 40 mm, 50 mm and 60 mm, compatible with Coloplast Assura and SenSura stoma pouches. Now Coloplast users can also benefit from these superb flanges.

EuroTec convex flanges have no added synthetic rubber. In peristomal areas the skin is often irritated and under these circumstances the FLEXIMATE Convex flanges will perform really well. They also have a large hydrocolloid surface.

Available in Convex (FC) and Extra-Convex (FXC) and with many pre-cut openings and starter holes. The opening can be easily stretched a little bit if necessary.

Extra-Convex flanges are to be used only for deeply retracted areas, after consulting a stoma care nurse.

OSTOMATE II 2-piece wafers consist of an extremely skin friendly hydrocolloid, which easily adheres to both a dry or wet skin. This skin barrier is 1.4 mm thick and due to its capability to absorb moisture from the skin, it is very suitable for active people even in warm weather conditions. Ostomate skin barriers may also be used in case of sore or irritated skins, allowing the underlying skin to heal.

OSTOMATE II standard flanges are full hydrocolloid wafers, consisting of gelatin, pectin, sodiumcarboxymethylcellulose and polyisobutylene, laminated by a transparent polyethylene film. Latex free.

CIRCLEMATE is the brand name of circular stoma plasters. They are available in beige with a hypo-allergenic solvent acrylic adhesive and in white with a water-based acrylic adhesive, which is even more skin friendly. The plasters help to improve the comfort and security of the pouch and flange. Suitable for all brands of ostomy appliances. CIRCLEMATE plasters prevent the edges of the flange or pouch adhesive from:

- lifting and possibly leaking.

- drying out and becoming rigid.

- ‘flowing’ and sticking to the pouch.

If the edges of the flange dry out and become rough and hard, they may cause irritation of the skin. Alternatively, the adhesive layer may ‘bleed’ or ‘flow’ in the presence of heat and moisture, causing the edges to stick to the pouch. Occasionally, when bathing or swimming, the edges may even become moist. This problem may also occur with 1-piece ostomy pouches and this can be prevented with special circular CIRCLEMATE plasters, available in many sizes. See page 67. Although these are very skin friendly, they can - like all plasters - cause irritation when used on sensitive skin. In which case it is preferable to use the ultra thin VARIMATE THIN hydrocolloid strips, which are 5 times thinner than the hydrocolloid of the flange. The material absorbs a lot of moisture, fits well, is breathable and water resistant.

VARIMATE THIN STRIPS

VARIMATE RESIST double-sided adhesive washers are an excellent alternative to traditional stoma paste from a tube. They can be moulded with the fingers, stretched and remodeled. They will always remain sticky! VARIMATE RESIST is highly resistant against urine and liquid stool. VARIMATE RESIST can be stretched to fit well

around the stoma. The flange or pouch can then be applied over it. The material is also very suitable to fill small skin folds (as paste strips) or larger folds and scars (VARIMATE EYE). VARIMATE RESIST contains a small amount of synthetic elastomers.

VARIMATE WEDGESSuffering from leakage?If the stool or urine is undermining both sides of the flange, this may be due to skin folds around the stoma. These skin folds can be filled with pieces of double sided adhesive hydrocolloid in the form of a wedge.

Because the cutting of wedges is a difficult and time-consuming job for many people, EuroTec offers ready made VARIMATE wedges. The wide side of the wedges can be placed in the fold, near the stoma, while the point of the wedge is away from the stoma. VARIMATE DUO

VARIMATE DUO double sided adhesive wafers are made from optimally absorbing Classic Stoma Adhesive without the addition of synthetic rubbers (elastomers). VARIMATE double sided adhesive wafers are not sterilized, but they have been manufactured under strict conditions in a classified clean room, and laminated under high temperature with a hermetically sealed silicone release paper.

VARIMATE DUO is particularly useful as a filler for creases and uneven skin around stomas and fistulas or scarred surfaces for example. It can be used to create a level platform on the skin to which a collection device can be attached. VARIMATE DUO is available in many versions and can easily be cut to size.

ELASTOMATE SUPPORT BELTSELASTOMATE support belts are made of high grade, solid elastic material for maximum comfort. The opening is reinforced with a plastic rim. These support belts are available in three different widths: 10 cm, 15 cm and 23 cm and different lengths, adjustable with a velcro closure. LEASORB SECURITY PAD Unfortunately some ostomates still suffer from

leakages. Sometimes this is due to incorrect use or the failure of a device, but often this can also be due to a problematic ostomy. As a

result one hardly dares to go out, let alone stay away from home overnight.

LEASORB security pads can increase self-confidence and contribute to a better social life as a result. Naturally it goes without saying that leakages must be prevented! However if a leakage does occur, if the consequences can be limited this provides calm and self-confidence. The LEASORB pad is stuck to the skin around the adhesive layer. An integral ‘super-absorbent’ layer must then absorb the leakage before clothing or bedding becomes soiled. And if no leakage occurs, the LEASORB pad can be used again for at least 5 times.

The LEASORB pad adheres to skin by a special silicone layer, which re-adheres each time and is easy to remove. Do you often have leakages or feel insecure? If so, contact EuroTec and we will send you some free samples.

Ready made convex wafers are often preferred to a wafer into which a convex insert has to be fitted.

1. A plain wafer can be cut to size easier than a ready to use convex wafer, due to the absence of the convex ring at the cutting stage.2. You have a better selection in matching the diameter of the stoma with the inner diameter of the ConvexRing insert, particularly with larger and oval stomas.3. Installing a convex insert yourself may reduce costs.

Click the convex insert into the flange, using both thumbs. Follow the complete circumference of the flange, securing a complete snap.

SuperSoft and SuperFlex flanges are designed to accept the special ConvexRing convex inserts, available separately. The flexible convex inserts give additional support in a retracted skin area.

Remove the release liner from the flange and replace it with the special center slitted silicone release liner. Press it onto the adhesive with the shiny side.

The slits in the silicone release liner and the flexibility of the SuperSoft flange make this an easy procedure.

The plain flange has now been converted into a convex shape. The special slit silicone release liner can be used several times, so do not discard!

Varimate Standard is classic hydrocolloid covered with a polyethylene film layer. It is extraordinarily skin-friendly and protects broken skin whilst the adhesive pouches on the surface can easily be changed without harming the affected skin. It can also be used to protect the edges of wounds. The advantage of Varimate Standard is that the surface can be easily cleaned and re-used to fix something to it.

The beer glass test demonstrates how much moisture a ‘Classic Stoma Adhesive’ can absorb. A glass of water is attached upside down to a Varimate Standard and removed after several hours.

Varimate SuperSoft is actually Varimate Standard (see page 82), the film layer of which is replaced by a top layer of polyethylene foam with a closed cell structure. The foam therefore absorbs no moisture. The advantage of Varimate SuperSoft is that it is extremely supple and flexible. That’s why EuroTec use it on all of their SuperSoft and SuperFlex products. A disadvantage of the Varimate SuperSoft wafers is that they can only be fixed once, because the foam layer is damaged when it is removed. Varimate SuperSoft wafers and strips can be used to protect an area of irritated skin to facilitate it’s natural healing.

The foam layer has a cushioning effect for the prevention of bed sores but it does generate more shear friction than a hydrocolloid with a smooth film layer.
