OSSEA 2015 CONVENTION
Well that time of year is upon us and we are gearing up for our annual meeting and
convention. I am having a hard time grasping that we are getting ready for fall activities.
It seems we have had our second summer that has been very busy. It will be a nice
change to spend a few days in the peace and quiet of Mohican State Park.
We are again heading to one of our state parks. This year we are headed to Mohican
State Park. The trip to Mohican State Park will not disappoint you. We held a board
meeting there in May and were all pleased with the facility, the peace and quiet, and the
beautiful grounds. I think all of you will like what this state park has to offer, mix the
peace and quiet of the park with quality education and networking with fellow EAs from
around Ohio and you have the perfect fall get away.
This year we will hear from Mary Mellem, EA, Amy King, EA and Nichelle Gray. They
were all with us last year and are returning with a variety of classes. Tuesday you will
see the split track giving you choices in classes. Also, Jim Adelman EA, a member of
NAEA Board will join us as our keynote speaker on Sunday evening.
We start on Sunday afternoon with education and the banquet Sunday evening.
Monday will be a full day of education with a break after lunch for our annual meeting.
Monday evening we will have entertainment after dinner. Tuesday brings the split track
but we will finish up in time for you to get an early start home.
This year we are using an online registration for the first time. Look for the link on our
website (OSSEA.org).
Kay Hill has worked hard to plan a convention that is packed with activities, quality
education and friends galore! Please make it a point to include this event in your
schedule for September. I look forward to seeing each of you there and spending some
time growing together with OSSEA. As always I remind you that an organization is only
as strong as its members.

since 1998, and currently lives in Huron Township, between Huron and Sandusky. He graduated from
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a B.S. Chemical Engineering in 1977. The attraction to tax
preparation began after taking the H&R Block tax course one fall in 1983. A few years hence, and Jim
passed the EA exam, and became an Enrolled Agent in 1986.
While never working for anyone else, initial word-of-mouth growth in clients occurred over the years, but
remained a part-time pursuit until an opportunity to acquire clients from a retiring individual came up in
1998. Naturally, the contact for this opportunity resulted from involvement with the local EA chapter.
This allowed Jim to “retire” from engineering and go full-time into the tax preparation business.
Since that time, Jim has been actively involved in the local EA chapter, and recently on the OSSEA
Board. Jim is the current Secretary of OSSEA and also Education Committee Chair. Previously, Jim was
President of the Enrolled Agents of Greater Cleveland from 2006-2008 and was been on the OSSEA
Board as Cleveland’s Chapter Representative from 2007 - 2013.
