Background

Botswana Fibre Networks Ltd (BoFiNet) is owned by the Botswana Government and was established in 2012 as a wholesale provider of national and international telecommunication infrastructure.

It is currently the only Bandwidth provider mandated, and will provide Backbone to all customers including Telecom providers.

It had laid fiber across Botswana for around 7500 kms and is continuously expanding.

It currently has DWDM, SDH and MPLS backbone and using WiMax, FTTx and WIFI for the Access Network.

It serves Botswana with regional extension currently to South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and through Namibia to London for Internet

It currently has 10 Gig backbone infrastructure and is being expanded to 40 and to 100 Gig with capacity of 400Gbit/s on a single fibre pair
