Establishing a PPE Program
• A PPE program sets out procedures for selecting, providing and using PPE as part of an employer’s routine operation
• The first essential step is to assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of PPE
• Once the proper PPE has been selected, the employer must provide training to each employee who is required to use PPE

Voluntary Respirator Usage
• Determine the respirator will not create a hazard
• Provide information in appendix D

Medical Evaluation
• Required before the employee is fit-tested or required to use the respirator in the facility
• May be through a physical examination or a questionnaire (appendix C contains a questionnaire)

Program Evaluation
• Conduct evaluations of the workplace to ensure program is properly implemented

Control of Hazardous Energy(Lockout/Tagout)
The Standard Applies to:
• General industry workers performing servicing and maintenance on machines and equipment who are exposed to unexpected energization, startup, or release of hazardous energy.
What activities/operations are covered?
• Mechanical hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, or other energy
• Constructing, installing, setting up, adjusting, installing, and modifying machines and equipment
• Servicing and maintenance during normal operations • Establishes minimum performance requirements
