Welcome to our first ever newsletter

Ponteland
We are really excited to be starting 2015 with the opening of our new Dental Practice in Ponteland
The building work is coming along well and the doors should be opening in January
Wersquoll keep you posted
2015 is going to be a really exciting year for the Osborne Dental Group We will be opening our newly refurbished surgery in Ponteland to celebrate 30 years since I qualified from Newcastle University
This newsletter is to let you know about the treatments we provide and all of the behind the scenes news We would also like you to let us know what more we can do to improve the care we provide

We like to stay in touchLets face it life is busy and sometimes things slip our minds To help our patients remember their dental appointments we now email a reminder to our patients 4 days before an appointment and text a reminder 48 hours before Please help us to help you by making sure that we have your email address and mobile number
Moving with the times
We are always investing in equipment and facilities to help our patients experience
Earlier this year we introduced on-line booking This is a facility for new and existing patients to book an examination appointment If you have used this facility please let us know how you found the experience
Please return the love We love to see our patients but sometimes you canrsquot make it We ask that you give us 48 hours notice of a cancellation or to change an appointment That gives another patient the chance to take the appointment It really helps if you can stick to the 48 hour rule

We have recently introduced the facility to complete Medical Health Questionaires and NHS declarations on an iPad This means that we donrsquot have to print these documents and can scan them directly on to patients notes It also makes sure that our records are kept up to date
Our patients have really approved of this - in fact we hope that in the near future we can ask our patients to complete their Dental Health Questionaire and treatment plans on the iPads too We are waiting for the software to be developed to allow us to do this - watch this space
Did you know that Osborne and Stanley Dental are training practices for the Northern Deanery That means every year we train a newly qualified dentist and set them off on a formative year of their career We are extremely pleased to have some more talented dental professionals joining the team
Dr Nigel Parkash BDS (Ncle) Nigel completed his foundation year with us at Osborne Dental we are really pleased that Nigel has joined the team as an Associate Dentist
Dr Chris Hanford BDS MFDS RCS (Ed) BDS (Ncle)Chris has joined the team working at Ponteland and Jesmond and Stanley as an Associate Dentist
Jane Roddam Dip DHDTJane is our new Dental Therapist working at Jesmond Stanley and Ponteland
Tom Keight RDH RDTA Dental Therapist has joined the team in Stanley and Jesmond
Sam MaughanSam began life at Osborne Dental as a trainee nurse back in 2011 and we are so pleased to be welcoming her back as a Dental Therapist Congratulations to Sam on her graduation
At our practices we really value life long learning and every month we hold a study club for the dentists to exchange good practice new ideas and techniques
Dr David Lawler organises the club and each month a dentist will begin by presenting on a clinical issue to colleagues
The study club ensures that we are all continually improving the care we provide our patients

As part of our commitment to improving the oral health of our patients we are working with Newcastle University as a part of the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network helping to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation
We are taking part in the IQuaD trial together with the University of Aberdeen and Newcastle University comparing Oral Hygiene advice and Periodontal instrumentation for the prevention and management of periodontal disease in dental primary care
