Donna Yang, a native ofHualien, helped Christian

radio and television become areality in Taiwan. She and her sis-ters, Carol and Eileen, were someof the first people to help producelocal radio broadcasts and to singin our first gospel choir. Donnajoined me on several evangelistictours around Taiwan in the early1950's. An accomplished pianistand teacher, Donna was full ofcreativity. Best of all, her life wascompletely dedicated to servingJesus Christ.

In 1953, Donna went to SeattlePacific University to further hermusical studies. Upon return toTaiwan she helped establish thevery first Heavenly Melody choir. Her husband Charles, an engineerwith Taiwan Power Company, fully supported her ministry inevery way possible. Their threesons–Tommy, Bob andPeter–were often seen on theHeavenly Melody TV program orat a Saturday Night Youth Rally,

playing violin orpiano. On the firstHeavenly MelodyU.S. tour, f ive-year-old Tommywas a great hit. Heplayed the violin

accompanying the choir. Moreimpressively, he played the pipeorgan, even though his feet couldn't reach the pedals!

The Yang family later moved toChicago where Tommy now hashis own symphony orchestra.Donna continued to have a bigpart in Christian ministry in thatarea, as well as teach piano tocountless numbers of students. She passed away peacefully in hersleep on January 4, 2003.

The Christmas rally adaptationof Max Lucado's You Are

Special made a l i fe-changingimpact on young people and adultsalike. Many were touched, manywere inspired, and many began tounderstand that the Creator Godhas a special purpose for them. Inevery city, there were more peopleattending than had been expected. At five of the seven performances,a closed-circuit TV room was setup for people who couldn't get intothe main halls.

Attendance totaled approximately16,000 people, with more than1,600 responding to the Gospelmessage during the rallies. Evennow, we continue to receiveresponse sheets in the mail. Weare so grateful for God's true lovethat we can share with peoplewherever we go!

O RTV's annual Christmas Kids'Rally was held on Saturday,

December 21, 2002, at the Bread ofLife Church in the Shihlin district ofTaipei City. The rally included games, drama and songs for more than 1,000Taipei-area children. The theme,"Giving Your Best," taught the childrenabout God's best Christmas gift–Jesus, and how they can followGod's example by giving their best inall that they do. Response to the pro-gram was very positive, with over 500children wanting to learn more aboutGod. This prompted our teachers tohold a special follow-up session inJanuary for over 30 families who wereinterested in learning more aboutChristianity.

According to statistics from ChildEvangelism, about 98% of the childrenof Taiwan still have not heard theGospel message. Please continue topray that God’s holy truth will touch thehearts of Taiwanese children throughthe monthly Kids’ Rallies.
