This follows on from the successful Anti-Head Shop campaign in that area. COMMUNITY GAMES IN CLONTARF TAKES OFF For the first time in many years, we have an active Clontarf Community Games organisation again. In its first year, the group (made up of volunteers and parents) has gone from strength to strength, with teams of local children participating in swimming, athletics, cross-country and the table quiz event and even winning medals at the Dublin finals. DEFENDING THE SEAFRONT AND DUBLIN BAY – CLONTARF FLOOD DEFENCES CAMPAIGN In December 2011 a motion proposed by Councillor Jane Horgan-Jones effectively stopped the Council’s plans to build the controversial flood defences on our seafront. This would not have been possible without the huge community support and the tireless work of hundreds of volunteers. The campaign for the flood defences we all want for our area is well underway – and we will continue to work with the community to achieve that goal over the coming months and years. We are also continuing to support the community in the campaign to protect and preserve Dublin Bay against any proposed infill. CLONTARF
