1. MediaReportAfter the LHC restart in 2015 at high energy, our teams focused this year on thepreparation for new result announcements. Although CNRS and CEA haven’t send anypress release to date to themedia this year, we used our social networks, our institutewebsitesandlhc-france.frtoregularlydisseminateCERN’sreleasesandtopublishnews.Media attention was particularly triggered by ATLAS and CMS result on a 750-GeV‘diphoton’ bump, whichwas first presented inDecember 2015.Our scientistswere veryregularly invited by French media (especially on radio broadcasts), showcasing Franceparticipation in the LHC experiments. However,we sometimes disagreedwithmessagesdeliveredbysomemediaoutlets, duetorepeatedrumoursandmisunderstandingofATLASandCMSoutcome.ThatiswhyCNRSandCEApressofficesorganisedaspecialmediaeventfor French science journalists on 27 May 2016 to further explain how particle physicsexperiments work (focusing on data analysis, statistical fluctuations, signal significanceetc.).
