COURSE HOME PAGEWhen you login in, you will arrive at the course home page.

1 Assignments create, copy, and edit assignments.

2 Roster shows enrolled students and lets you add groups.

3 Gradebook contains your students’ grades.

4 Item Library Browse through questions in the Item Library. From here you can import and create your own questions. You can edit your own copy of any Mastering question. You can use any of these in assignments.

5 Course Calendar Create and edit assignments, view due dates, and see which assignments are due next.

6 Announcements Add announcements that students see on their Course Home Page.

One of the most powerful features of MasteringPhysics is its self-paced, in-depth tutorials with specific hints and feedback.

1 If a student gets stuck on a problem and selects the wrong answer, specific wrong-answer feedback appears in the purple feedback box.

2 Then students are offered hints to coach them to the correct answer.

3 To see how students use Mastering, click on the introductory assignment: “Introduction to MasteringPhysics”. It is automatically created in all courses. A wizard leads you through assignment creation. To save you time, pre-built assignments are available.

GRADEBOOKQuick results with easy-to-interpret insights into student performance.

The gradebook functionality provides quick results and easy-to-interpret insights into student performance.

1 Automatically graded, color coded to highlight vulnerable students and challenging assignments.

2 Export grades to another course management system using Manage. In Manage, you can also create assignment categories, weight them, and add empty “offline” assignments to upload grades for outside activities like labs.

3 In-depth Diagnostics monitor students progress within an assignment as well as overall data.

4 Analyze student data including the amount of time spent on each item, the difficulty level of that item and the item score.
