Order of Worship
PRELUDE Tony Mercer
ANNOUNCEMENTS Donald Bennett CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Dr. David Drain
∆ OPENING HYMN The Star Spangled Banner #802
RECONNECTING TO GOD Ann Mathison Holy God, many times we walk off the beaten path you paved for us. We err repeatedly, sometimes deliberately. We prefer to live in a bubble ignoring the needs and concerns of others. We remain silent to injustices. We strive for our own comfort, not the basic needs for others. God, deliver us from our nearsightedness. Forgive and renew us, we pray. Amen.
∆ WORSHIP THROUGH PRAISE ________________ Praise Team Indescribable & Blessed Be Your Name
∆ RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP ________________ Dan Brenneman
CHILDREN’S MESSAGE Carolyn Haug
Immediately following the children’s message, the children will be escorted to our preschool building with Carolyn Haug for children’s church. They will return to the Sanctuary during the closing song.
MINUTE FOR MISSION Holly Bishop
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Dan Brenneman Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Whether your preference is contemporary or our current
blended style, mark your calendars for a slight time change
starting September 9th! We are so very excited to announce
that the results are in and plans are moving forward for an
experimental new worship schedule to begin on the second
Sunday in September. The congregational surveys
overwhelmingly supported scheduling the blended service at
10:00am & the contemporary service at 11:15am. Our
September 2nd Rally Day will prepare us for the new
schedule. Thank you to all that voted!

FROM JEFF DAVIS: I want to personally thank everyone that helped with this year’s Vacation Bible School! We had 64 children attend this year, and things ran smooth all week long. We had the Florida Aquarium here, a bounce house inside the sanctuary, and a representative from Keeping Polk County Beautiful taught us about how to keep God’s precious gift (our planet) beautiful. God provided a lot of great things for us this year, and we couldn’t have done it without the super help of the people who gave their money, time, and energy. Thank you again for another incredible year!
GUEST PASTOR APPRECIATION: Today’s guest pastor is Rev. Dr. David Drain, filling in for Shaun while he is on the mission trip! Thank you Pastor Drain!

AUDIO/VISUAL TECH If you were a fan of the show Lost...this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Volunteers to assist in pushing the button inside the special station located at the rear of the sanctuary are needed on Sunday mornings. If there are not enough people to push the button, it is unclear what the full extent of problems that could arise are, but a lack of control over the sound and slides for the projection screen are sure to be one effect. Only limited computer experience is necessary & training is provided. Contact Clint or Deborah Haldane, or Lynn Schindler, for more information on joining this project. EXPERT PHONE HANDLER Our Secretary is in need of someone with limber wrists and cat-like reflexes to help answer the phones on Mondays & Fridays, anytime between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Interested? Contact Amanda in the church office, [email protected]. USHER If you think you have the moves to be a substitute or regular usher (or greeter), please email Lynn, [email protected], or contact her through the Church office, (863)646-3121.
