Kandace Ypma & Dylan Sylvestri, as we witness the baptism of their son, Wyatt, with Brad & Kristin Westervelt as they baptize their son, Leo Jeremiah, with Kevin & Mamie Mulder as they baptize their son, Eli Kenneth, and with Ajulu Ochang Okello as we baptize her daughter, Dorthy. We praise God for His covenant faithfulness.
*Congratulations to Jason & Kassie Rietema on the birth of their brand new baby boy, Kornelius Richard Rietema born on December 6th. We praise God!
*We pray for care and healing for Sean Folkerts, who is scheduled for knee surgery this coming Tuesday.

*We pray for God’s healing for Ophelia Mulder, who had surgery this past weekend. She continues to heal from the surgery, and is expected to resume her cancer treatments soon.

HI PARENTS We're planning for the new year and we're wondering if you'd like us to host another Faith Formation for kids/youth evening. We'd focus on ways to celebrate Lent and Easter, as well as one other topic. Please let Dayna know (text, email or chat) if you'd like one or not. And then if yes, tell us what other topic you'd like us to focus on: 1. how to pray with kids 2. tips and resources on how to read scripture 3. how to talk about faith/God with kids 4. something else (and tell us what that is) And if you have suggestions for how to make it better, please tell us!
ALPHA: the Classes are done for Christmas and will resume again in the New Year on Tuesday, January 9th If you or your friends and neighbours are wrestling with the meaning of life, not sure what you believe, have questions about who God is or just want to learn more? MORNING BREAK a gathering for any and all women of the congregation will start again on Wednesday mornings in the new year.
CADETS (For boys in Grades 5 to Grade 9) The Cadet Bottle drive will be on Wednesday, January 3 here at Woody Nook Church.
THE LOUIS BULL ALL NATIONS CHURCH has expressed again that the community is in need of coats, toques, mitts and anything winter. The response from Woody Nook last year was overwhelming! All of the stuff we collected last year was brought over to the Louis Bull church and sorted. The RCMP were doing a Christmas turkey give away at the Rec center the next day and all the coats were put out on tables there. It was exciting to watch all the joy and smiles on the faces of everyone who was there. We are asking again if there are any coats, toques or mitts you may have laying around or in the back of your closet. Would you consider re-homing them to your neighbor in Louis Bull? If you’re college and career aged (18-35ish, married or single). Come dressed as your favourite bingo player, we’ll feed you supper and the youth elders are gonna cream you in some group games. Also, bring a previously loved white-elephant gift to re-gift.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS Central Alberta Christian High School’s Fall Drive is underway. This year’s goal is set at $600,000. So far, this year’s Drive has resulted in donations totaling $47,436. We would ask that you prayerfully consider to what extent you can support CACHS through this year’s drive. If you would like to receive a donation for the 2017, please have the donation to the school by 11:30 on Friday December 29. CACHS: With the approval from the CACHS Society, the Industrial Arts Committee is moving forward with the construction of a New Industrial Arts facility to start in the spring of 2018. The Industrial Arts Committee is looking for qualified trade’s people to sub-contract in concrete, plumbing, electrical and commercial heating. If you are interested in any of the sub-trades, contact Dennis Haan at 403-357-9543(cell) at Eagle Builders by January 31, 2018.
HYMN SING: The First Christian Reformed Church of Red Deer
is having their annual carol and hymn sing! Join in the celebration
with English, Dutch, and Afrikaans songs on Monday December
18 at 2:30pm at 16 McVicar Street. We will collect donations for
the Salvation Army Kettle drive, and refreshments will be served.
THE DEACONS CORNER
Today our offering is for the Woody Nook Diaconal Fund: Deacons serve by showing mercy to the church and to all people.
They received this task in the early church when the apostles
designated special persons for the work of mercy. Deacons are
therefore called to assess needs, promote stewardship and
hospitality, collect and disburse resources for benevolence, and
develop programs of assistance.

NEIGHBOURHOOD LIFE UPDATE: Christmas is one of the
seasons when neighbours expect to hear and see each other. This
gives every opportunity to bless your neighbour out of abundance.
Neighbourhood Life teaches to love your neighbour out of
abundance equal to loving as a response to needs. Your love can be
gift based, or it can be as simple as being present in your
neighbour’s life. At the very least, make yourself available and be
prepared to be interrupted. Or you may want to be more intentional
and join in on "socking your neighbour" which simply asks that
you fill a large stocking with gifts (ornament, chocolate, 'thank you'
note, etc), and hang it on your neighbours door...anonymously. And
consider the neighbour that may need more joy than others. Be sure
to include a note that asks them to do the same for another
neighbour. More info and ideas can be found at
