Learning is an ongoing process.

Learning is an ongoing process. We all have seen many seasons and festivals in our life and with

every season and festival we have seen certain changes as well. The time demands our children to

learn about the coming changes and accept them heartily, at the same time to follow our customs

and traditions and to be proud of them. Diwali is round the corner and preparations for this biggest

Indian festival is easily noticeable everywhere.

Diwali brings bliss, mirth and togetherness. The festival signifies decoration of diyas, colorful

rangoli, mouth watering homemade sweets and the ritual of sharing gifts.

But with the changing time the style of celebrating Diwali has also changed drastically. Now, Diwali

celebrations mean electric illumination and bursting noisy fire crackers. This change in the

celebration style has imposed many negative effects on the environment.

Let’s make a positive change in the way Diwali can be celebrated.

Let’s pledge to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali!

• Let’s burn our ego not the crackers.

• There are enough reasons for pollution on the earth, let’s avoid crackers.

• The smoke can be a hazard for others and our loved ones as well. Let’s think about it.

• It’s like burning your own money. Donate it for a cause.

What can be done?

1. Take the community children for a walk in the neighborhood and collect dry leaves, grass

and twigs. Then celebrate the festival of lights by lighting a bonfire on the terrace or in an

open space and serve homemade sweets.

2. Substitute candles and electric diyas with the good old oil diyas that are bio-degradable,

cost effective, traditional and very beautiful.

3. Talking of a green Diwali, what could be better than gifting a plant? Kitchen herbs, feng shui

plants, air purifying plants, bonsai, and terrariums make great eco-conscious gifts.

4. This year, give the festivals a green tinge by reusing everyday items in innovative ways to

create beautiful products. They will brighten up your home and be good for the

environment too!

5. Use natural colors to make rangoli rather than using synthetic colours.

Diwali is one of the cheerful festival celebrations of Indians. So celebrate it with utmost zeal and

safety with family and friends.

Wishing you and your Family a very blissful Diwali!

Orchids The International School- Sarjapur Branch Our School held a very interesting exhibition of students' integrated project on 1st September,

2016. The students of grades V, VI, & VII showcased their talents in Science, Mathematics, Languages and Social Science. The topic given for the stu-

dents of grades were Transport, Sports and Trees respectively. It was surprising to see the various pieces of handwork of such high standards. These

exhibits were attractive and colorful for they had been prepared and designed well by the students with guidance from the teachers. The students were

obviously enthusiastic about their work; for each item was rendered carefully and lovingly without the slightest trace of sloppiness. There were many

sections that thrilled the parents who came to see the work of their children. The students displayed models based on the topics and it was of an excep-

tionally high standard. Then they displayed their write ups which were admired too. The students also performed skits based on the topics allotted to

them. Parents keenly interacted with students who exuded confidence while explaining to them the various projects and activities that were on display.

Our integrated project culmination was a huge success. Enthusiasm and effervescence overflowed amongst students, their teachers and parents!

Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14th September to pay tribute to the official language of India as Hindi was adopted as the official language of

Constituent assembly on September 14, 1949. The Constitution of India adopted Hindi in Devanagri Script as the official language of the union under

Article (343) in 1950.

The students and staff of Orchids the International School, Sarjapur celebrated Hindi Diwas in the school to mark the importance of the country’s most

widely spoken language.

On this occasion the students participated in the recitation of various Hindi poems and students spoke on the importance of the language in the contem-

porary society. The celebration ended with the slogan writing competition that exhibited the vivid talent of the students.

The teachers and students of Orchids the International School, Sarjapur went for a one day picnic to an enchanting village situated in Nelamangala

on –3rd

September 2016. The students were exposed to the rural lifestyle and environment. For the people of the cities and town, village is a very

beautiful and rejuvenating place. Everybody needs to take a break to relax and rejuvenate their mind and body. One of the ideal places to relax and

unwind is the village. The students first explored a wide range of plants which were displayed and it helped them to enhance their knowledge .The

most interesting part of the trip was a tractor ride to a banyan tree where the children could swing and pretend as Tarzan or Jane.

They also enjoyed the fun filled village games like catapult, bugari, marbles, cycle tyre race, lagori etc. Then the children were thrilled to know how

pots are made and they happily tried to make their own. Every child got the opportunity to 'rotate the potter's wheel' and they did it with a lot of

excitement . The trip brought a divine touch into the students mind. Everyone experienced peace, beauty, love, simplicity and the panorama of the

charming scenes of nature in the village. The green and luxuriant vegetation, the flower plants and fruit trees, the green paddy, the pure air, the

sweet singing of birds, and the healthy atmosphere attracted the children and they were fascinated and inspired by the country side.

This year on 15th August, we, Indians celebrated our 70th Independence Day. On this very day of 1947, the country became independent from the clutches of British colonialism. With all patriotic fervor, the students and teachers of Orchids, The International School, Sarjapur celebrated the 70th Independence Day. Our Principal hoisted the national flag sharp at 9 am on that auspicious day. All the teachers and students saluted the flag and then sang our National Anthem—Jana Gana Mana…… Numerous cultural programs added colors to the celebration. Everyone showcased their talents with patriotic songs, instrumental music, group dance performances and speeches. Towards the end, our Principal addressed the school with her short speech. She enlightened the students with the thought that the freedom is very precious and we should preserve it with care!

Krishna Janmashthami Celebrated on the eighth day of Sravana month, marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord

Vishnu.

Janmashthami festival was celebrated with great zeal and pomp by the children of Orchids The International School- Sarjapur.

A special assembly was conducted to mark the birth of the deity. Children came dressed in as Krishna and Radha and other

colorful outfits. The students of grade III B did a fantastic dance performance. Children celebrated the occasion by singing and

dancing with great joy. Then students of grade IV together presented a skit as part of Janmashthami celebrations. Students won

the heart of the audience by enacting various roles from Sri Krishna’s life. Dressed in attire of Krishna and Gopikas, they spread

the message of ancient Puranas and our traditional customs through pranks of Makhan Chor. The awesome performance was

applauded and appreciated by everyone.

Practicing handwriting is an incredibly important exercise for children, enabling them to develop fine motor skills, confidence and

most importantly their very own style. We all feel confident and inspired by good handwriting skills. Good handwriting is the plat-

form for achievement in the workplace and self assurance in life. It is, and will remain the key to progress and success. A handwrit-

ing skill is crucial for successful and satisfying education experience and is a lifelong learning skill. Our school conducted an amazing

handwriting competition and we would love to have even more this year .

The Secret Palace

There were 2 best friends, Rama and shyama. They

both like adventures, so one day they decided to go to

a forest. They walked in the forest and after one hour,

they saw 2 ways. On way was straight and the other

way turned to the right. They both started walking in

the path which turned right. After some time, they

saw so many wires. They went underneath them and

saw a Golden Palace!. They entered the Palace and

saw a hallway. They walked in the hallway and at the

end of it, they saw 3 thrones. They turned right and

saw Golden stairs. They climbed the stairs and saw a

hallway full of rooms. The last room was full of gold.

They both kept it as a secret and whenever they feel

like coming here they would come.
