Apollo Chamber Players: MoonStrike The Houston-based Apollo Chamber Players visit for the world premiere of “MoonStrike,” by Emmy-winning Chickasaw composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate and Guggenheim Fellow Jake Heggie. Commander John Herrington, Chickasaw astronaut, joins as narrator. FRIDAY, JAN. 10, 2020 | 7:30 P.M. Mercury: Bach’s Brandenburgs Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos are among his most loved musical works. Each of the six concertos features different combinations of instruments and soloists. Mercury masterfully showcases the beautiful balance Bach creates between soloists and groups. SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2020 | 5 P.M. Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra Back by popular demand, Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra transports you back to an era of silent movies and syncopated beats. This evening will be filled with laughter and music as the Orchestra underscores two silent films from the turn of the 20th century. FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2020 | 7:30 P.M. Apollo Chamber Players: American Legends Join us for another world premier by the Apollo Chamber Players, featuring American composing superstar and Grammy winner Jennifer Higdon. Alongside Jennifer, guest artist Lara Downes will perform Florence Beatrice Price’s newly- discovered “Piano Quintet in A Major.” THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2020 | 7:30 P.M. Mercury: Haydn’s Cello Concerto Hayden demonstrated the versatility and agility of the cello with these masterpieces. Beiliang Zhu, Mercury’s principal cellist, makes magic of his sweeping chords and virtuosic runs with her characteristic charm and technique. SUNDAY, MAY 10, 2020 | 2 P.M. Mercury: Bach’s Violin Concerto Make Mother’s Day even more meaningful for Mom. Bring her to this delightful performance, filled with exuberance, energy and the joy of life.
