2019-2020Season
In this packet of information you will find the required hairstyle
for each level of company and team as well as the required
makeup for the 2019-2020 performance and competition
season.
All dancers will be required to have their hair and makeup
supplies by their first performance: Gift and Hobby Show / Demo
Day.
It is important that you practice your dancer's hair style and
required makeup look prior to performance. It is our goal for all of
our dancers look professional on stage.
FAQ's:
Why does my dancer need stage make-up?A: Distance between the performer and the audience. Dancer’s
makeup needs to be dark enough to enhance facial features on
stage. This allows the audience to see the dancer’s emotion from
their seats. Stage lights can also “flatten” facial features and take
away the dimension that help the audience see the dancer’s
emotion.
May my dancer wear their glasses onstage?A: Dancers may not wear glasses onstage. Why? Lenses reflect stage
light. Not only does it make a glare in front of the dancer’s face to
were the audience cannot see their face but it also can make it
harder for dancers to see when they are walking into the light. It is
important to see a performer’s full face emoting and telling a story
while dancing.
Glasses also can inhibit their movement; if a dancer's glasses were
to somehow fall off of their face then it would be distracting to
them, the audience and other dancers.
Dancers are encouraged to practice without glasses when
running their dance in rehearsal.
