List of All Supported ConfigurationsThe following table lists the operating system and hardware configurations that Oracle supports for WebLogic Server, WebLogic Platform, AquaLogic Service Bus, and related component products. To view all support information about a particular configuration, select that configuration from the table.

Note: Oracle will end support for WebLogic Server running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 in October 2010. This is in accordance with Oracle’s 3rd-Party Product Desupport Advisory - Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 3. Please refer to doc id 437627.1 in http://support.oracle.com for additional details.

Note: WebLogic Platform 8.1 includes WebLogic Server 8.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1). The WebLogic Server 8.1 release was available before the full WebLogic Platform 8.1 release.

WebLogic Server Process Edition 8.1 is only supported on the same configurations supported by WebLogic Integration 8.1 SP3 and later versions. It is not supported on all

Oracle supports such implementations when they are certified for compliance by their respective owners. For example:

Fujitsu offers a line of machines called Primepower. Because Sun has certified Primepower systems for SPARC compatibility, all Primepower computers are supported for any SPARC-based system listed in the Supported Configurations documentation for each platform.

The IA32-compatible (that is, x86/Xeon-compatible) architecture that is supported in the same manner by AMD.

Users of Xen virtualization software should review Xen documentation to ensure that the versions of Windows and Linux supported by Oracle are also supported by the Xen software.

Support for Intel 64-bit Xeon HardwareIntel’s 64-bit Xeon hardware is capable of running in either of two modes: with 64-bit extended addressing or as an IA32 (x86/Xeon) machine:

If 64-bit Xeon is explicitly listed, this architecture will support 64-bit extended addressing.

If 64-bit Xeon is not listed, this architecture will be supported only for use as an IA32 machine with the supported 32-bit operating systems and SDKs for x86-based systems.

Support for BladeFrame ArchitectureWebLogic Platform supports BladeFrame architectures on any configuration of operating system, hardware chip architecture, and SDK that is listed Supported Configurations for each platform (see “Supported Configurations for WebLogic Platform” on page 2-1).

Development PlatformsWorkshop for WebLogic support Development Platforms for the design, development, and verification of applications; they are not supported for production server deployments. Development Platforms are identified in the detailed Supported Configurations document for each platform.

Support Policy for Third-Party JVMs A Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is required for WebLogic Server to run. For your convenience, in most cases the WebLogic installation program includes a JVM for creation of WebLogic domain

configurations and use of WebLogic software. For details, see the installation guide for WebLogic Server.

If the JVM used in your configuration is not the JRockit JVM, but a JVM provided by a third party, Oracle cannot directly resolve potential issues traced to the third-party JVM. Support for a third-party JVM must be provided by the JVM vendor.

The version of any third-party JVM bundled by Oracle is recommended by the JVM vendor at the time Oracle releases its product. Because the versions of JVMs supported by vendors change over time, please consult with your JVM vendor and confirm the latest configurations in the documentation for your operating system before using a third-party JVM.

WebLogic Platform will continue providing support for these platforms through December 2007. Support for any Windows-specific issues will require the customer to arrange Extended support services from Microsoft.

Sun Java 2 SDK 1.3.1 End-of-Life AnnouncementSun Microsystems has announced the Sun End of Life (EOL) for J2SE 1.3.1. Other SDK providers are also likely to end support of 1.3.1 in a similar time frame. See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html.

After the EOL date, WebLogic Server and WebLogic Platform configurations that run on J2SE 1.3.1 will no longer be running on fully supported configurations. BEA will continue to support these environments on a best-effort basis. Lack of support from an SDK vendor, however, may limit BEA’s ability to resolve certain SDK-related issues.

    BEA recommends the following:

WebLogic Server 6.1 and WebLogic Portal 4.0 customers concerned about the upcoming lack of support for the 1.3.1 SDK may:

    – Contact their SDK vendors to request specific support entitlements that provide them with product support beyond the stated EOL period for their current configurations.

    – Upgrade to a fully supported environment, such as WebLogic Server 8.1 with the 1.4.2 SDK, or WebLogic Server 9.0 with the 5.0 SDK.

WebLogic Platform 7.0 customers concerned about the upcoming lack of support for the 1.3.1 SDK may:

    – Contact their SDK vendors to request specific support entitlements that provide them with product support beyond the stated EOL period for their current configurations.

    – Plan an upgrade to WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP7. This service pack will be targeted to support 1.4.2 only (that is, it will provide no support for 1.3.1), and it will provide 7.0 customers with an upgrade path for SDK support.

    – Upgrade to an environment that is currently supported, such as WebLogic Platform 8.1 with the 1.4.2 SDK, or WebLogic Server 9.0 with the 5.0 SDK.
