IIOP Thin Client Not SupportedThe IIOP thin client is not supported on AIX due to dependencies on the JVM. Only thin-client applications are affected by this issue.

Workaround: Run WebLogic Server on AIX and your thin client on another operating system.

Serial Version UID MismatchA Serial Version UID Mismatch issue is encountered if you deploy an application on a latest JVM, but compiled with previous Service Release of IBM Java 6 JDK.

Workaround: To be compatible with the serialization of previously compiled applications, modify the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/commEnv.sh file to include the following command:

JAVA_OPTIONS="$JAVA_OPTIONS -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0"

Alternatively, you can use the command line option:

export IBM_JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0"

Note: If you intend to deploy new applications with previously compiled applications, they must be recompiled as necessary to have the same Serial Version UID.

AspectJClassLoader Not SupportedThe weblogic.aspects.AspectJClassLoader is not supported on AIX using IBM Java 6.

Workaround: You are advised not to use this class loader.

JVM Debug Mode ImpactUsing the JVM debug mode with the IBM JVM significantly degrades application performance. Therefore, whenever you run WebLogic Portal on an AIX configuration, BEA strongly recommends that you disable the JVM debug mode (default setting for WebLogic Platform). Disabling debug mode is recommended for all domains, including existing domains and those domains created using the Configuration Wizard.

To disable JVM debug mode, do one of the following:

In the bin directory under the target domain directory, use a text editor to open the setDomainEnv.sh file. Search for the first occurrence of debugFlag=true and replace it with debugFlag=false.

Pass the nodebug command-line argument to the server startup script. For example: $ ./startWebLogic.sh nodebug

XML Schema Validation ErrorAn xml schema factory validation error is encountered when IBM JDK fails to return the platform default schema factory because of a preconfigured property file format.

Workaround: Modify the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.0/common/bin/commEnv.sh file to include the following command:

WebLogic Server Known IssuesThe following sections provide information on known issues in WebLogic Server 9.2 on AIX:



Serial Version UID MismatchA serial version UID mismatch is encountered when using WLS 9.2 with IBM Java 5 SR2.

Workaround: To be compatible with the serialization of previously compiled applications, modify the <BEA_HOME>/Weblogic92/common/bin/commEnv.sh file to include the following command:







JVM Debug Mode ImpactUsing the JVM debug mode with the IBM JVM significantly degrades application performance. Therefore, whenever you run WebLogic Portal on an AIX configuration, BEA strongly




recommends that you disable the JVM debug mode (default setting for WebLogic Platform). Disabling debug mode is recommended for all domains, including existing domains and those domains created using the Configuration Wizard.




Upgrade from WebLogic Server 8.1 to WebLogic Server 9.2The WebLogic Server upgrade from WebLogic Server 8.1 to WebLogic Server 9.2 does not work properly on AIX platforms.

Workaround: Download and install the following WebLogic Server patch for AIX using the BEA Smart Update tool:

Cannot Import/Export AquaLogic Service Bus Configuration Data JAR file (with Password-based encrypted Resources) Between IBM JVM and other JVMs such as Sun or JrockitThere are differences in the various JDK implementations of the Password-Based Encryption algorithms used by AquaLogic Service Bus to protect resources that include sensitive data. These differences cause import to fail when an encrypted resource created with the Sun or JRockit JDK is imported into the IBM JDK or vice versa.

For information about the encryption algorithms, see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/security/jce/JCERefGuide.html#PBE.

There is no problem in exporting and importing encrypted resources with the same JDK.

3. Select IY82213 from the table and follow the instructions and/or prompts displayed on the screen to download and install the fix package on your system.









6. Remove the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ldapsec.jar file.

7. Run the following command to verify that the required SDK fixes are installed on your system:

java -version

The output should contain the following:

java version "1.5.0"
