Agenda

• Today's Market and the risk of deploying a HA DB

Solution

• Oracle Database Appliance,

– The technical advantage

– The operational advantage

– Where it competes

– The commercial advantage

• Call to Action

Challenges to deploy a

highly available database platform ?

4

Growing Business Critical Services and Data High Availability solutions desirable, but not easily deployed

Specific Skills Required

High Risk of Failure

Complex and Costly

5

This is how we procure systems today!

6

.. and then put them together!

7

... and then manage it all!

8

Is this how we are going to build a HA database

solution successfully?

9

D.I.WHY?

It’s all in the Software Architecture delivered as a Complete Engineered System

Oracle Database Appliance Pay-As-You-Grow: CPU Cores on Demand

• An Oracle on Oracle Feature !!!

• CPU cores on demand allows users to enable only the cores they

need from as few as 4 cores to as many as all 24 cores (in

increments of 4)

• System ships with all 24 cores enabled – there is no need to do

anything if running at full capacity

• To configure for subcapacity

– Log onto MyOracleSupport

– Declare configuration for servers

– Download encrypted key to reconfigure servers

– Run CLI to reconfigure server in BIOS and system will reboot

• Once configured for sub-capacity, core count can only increase in

subsequent reconfigurations
