ST. ROSE CHURCH SEPTEMBER 23, 2018

[±JPastorJs NotesWhen we hear of loving the unlovable, ofbeing a servant for Christ with a servant'sheart, so many times our thoughts turn tothe homeless, the downtrodden, the pris-oners in our jails. It is time that we look under our noses atan entire part of our population who needChrist's love and compassion almost morethan any other group in today's society --our children. Not just the children whobear our name, but the other children inour Church, the neighbor children who ridetheir bicycles past our house. In our Gospel, Jesus lifts upa child and sits him on Hislap and directs us to receivechildren in His name. Thismeans many things, but mostimportantly it means to listento their hearts and lift themin importance by valuing themat every opportunity. It is perhaps one of the critical prioritiesin a day when millions are aborted beforethey ever have a chance to be valued, ina day when suicide is the second largestkiller of teenagers, in a day when the aver-age father spends no more than 15 minutesa week of quality time with his own children.+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

News from your Parish School

The Family-A domestic churchOn Tuesday, Sept. 25, all parents are invited to come for

So important, in fact, that it is called "the domestic church." Catholic parents canlook to the Catechism of the Catholic Church for directionregarding their responsibilities to impart the faith to theirchildren.Within the walls of the domestic church, children learnabout their faith through their parents' and grandparents'word and example, as well as within the many growing painsand nitty-gritty details of , ~everyday life as a family 'i-grows together inholiness. Remember topray to the Holy Family forguidance and assistance inbuilding your domesticchurch.

The Pastoral Council of St. Rose of Lima Church met on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 7pm in the Family

Life Center. Members present were Father Tim Kosier, Royce Shimek, Jerome Kolenovsky, Nicole

Michalke, and Sherry Bubela. Father Tim opened the meeting with a prayer followed by the reading and

approval of the minutes from the previous meeting.

Reports:

Home/Hospital 21 Visits

Hospitality: 6 New Families Welcomed

Youth Ministry: There is a new Youth Encounter Group that meets every 2nd Sunday led by Stacy & Eric

Oeding. They will also have Wednesday night youth groups with the CCD this year. CCD will resume

classes on September 5,2018 at 7 pm for both elementary and high school grades. Teacher and aides

are meeting on August 29, 2018. Teacher aides and hall monitors are still needed.

The large cemetery mausoleum Altar canopy between the first two mausoleums has been shipped and

should arrive any day. The turn key price is 89,000, and donations toward this project would be

appreciated and could be made in memory of a loved one.

Discussion on the church pew restoration and replacing of the church carpet and other improvements to

the church were discussed. The Parish finance council will meet with several companies before

finalizing.

Under New Business St. Rose School began the new school year on August is" with 160 students

enrolled. The school along with the generous help of our KC council is purchasing a new 71 passenger

2018 school bus. Save the date- March 23, 2019 for the annual St. Rose School"Fall into Step" Gala.

This year Catechetical Sunday will be on Sunday September 16, 2018. The 2018 theme is "Enlisting

Witnesses for Jesus Christ."

Discussions about the Spring Festival lack of workers were discussed. It was mentioned to perhaps drop

this festival and concentrate more on our main picnic June 9, 2019. (The Spring Festival nets about

25,000). Another idea mentioned was to do an easier menu than turkey and dressing which is a three

day preparation. The work list also needs to be looked at more closely. If anyone has any input or ideas,

your suggestions are welcomed!

With no further business, Father Tim closed the meeting with a prayer, and the meeting was adjourned

at 7:45 pm.
