>DonotremovetheUSIM/SIMcardandthemicroSD whentheyarebeingused.Removingthecardsduring anoperationmaydamagethecardsaswellasthe device,anddatastoredonthecardsmaybecorrupted.


AIRCARD 310U 3G WATCHER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The procedure for installing the management program depends on the operating system installed on your PC.

TheAirCard310UmodemsuppliedhasTRU‑Installdisabled.Thefollowingstepsshouldbefollowedtoset‑uptheAirCard310U3GWatcherManagementProgram.Ifanoldversionofthe3GWatcherManagementProgramisinstalleditshouldberemovedpriortotheinstallationofnewsoftware.

NOTE:Please do not insert the modem into your computer before installing the 3G watcher management program.

1. Tocommencethe3GWatcherconnectionmanagersoftware installationprocess,inserttheminiCDintheCD‑ROMdrive*, opentheminiCDanddouble‑clicktheinstallerpackage. Oncetheinstallationiscomplete,restartyourcomputerwhen prompted.

*WARNING:DonotinserttheminiCDifyourcomputerhasaslot‑loadingCDdrive(suchasaMacBook).UsetheminiCDonlyifyouhaveatray‑loadingCDdrive.Ifyourcomputerhasaslot‑loadingCDdrive,pleasedownloadthe“3GWatcher”managementprogramfromtheSierraWirelesssupportwebpage(www.sierrawireless.com/support/.UndertheCarriersdrop‑downmenuonthispage,select“Optus”).

2. RemovethecapfromtheendofthemodemandinserttheSIMcard asshownintheillustration.

3. InsertthemodemintotheUSBslot.


4. 3GWatcherlaunchesafteryouinsertthemodem.Themodem beginssearchingforanetwork.Whenthemodemfindsanetwork, theConnectbuttoninWatcherbecomesavailable.

5. Click ConnecttoconnecttotheOptusDualBandNetwork.

Windows 7 Mobile Broadband *

ToconnecttotheOptusDualBandNetworkusingWindows7MobileBroadband:

1. Rightclickthesignalstrengthiconinthesystemtray.TheMobile Broadbandconnectionwindowopens.

2.ClickConnect andselecttheOptusDualBandNetwork. Note:FeaturessuchasSMSareonlyavailablebyusingWatcher.

*ThisproducthaspassedMicrosoft‑designedtestsforahigh standardofperformance,reliability,andcompatibilitywith Windows7.

TodisconnecttotheOptusDualBandNetworkusingWindows7MobileBroadband:

1. Rightclickthesignalstrengthiconinthesystemtray.

2.ClickDisconnect.

Mac OS X 10.4.11

1. Afterinstallingthesoftwareandrestartingyourcomputer,insert themodem.

2. GotoApplications > System Preferences > Network.The“New portdetected”windowopensontopoftheNetworkwindow.

3.ClickOK.

4.ClickApply andthenclosethewindow.


Mac OS X 10.5 and higher

1. Afterinstallingthesoftwareandrestartingyourcomputer,insert themodem.

2.Whenyourcomputerdetectsthemodem,themessage“New networkinterfaceshavebeendetected”appears.

3. ClicktheNetwork Preferences...button.

4. IntheNetworkwindow,clickApply.

Youwillneedtoconfigurethecorrectprofile.InPreferences,clicktheProfilestab,thenselectyoursubscriptiontypefromtheDefault Profilelist.SelecttheDefaultProfilethatmatchesyourOptusMobileBroadbandsubscription.ClickApply.Themodemisreadytouse.

TROUBlESHOOTINGMAC: Foradditionalinformationaboutyourmodem,refertotheUserGuide.You’llfinditin: Finder > Applications > Optus Mobile Broadband.

ToaccesstheHelpsysteminWatcher,select Help > Optus Mobile Broadband Help.

When do I use the extension cable?Iftheorientationofyourcomputer’sUSBslotorthethicknessofyourcomputeraresuchthatpressureisappliedtotheendorsideofthemodem,youmaydamagethemodemoryourcomputer.Insuchcases,donotinsertthemodemdirectlyintoyourcomputer’sUSBslot.UsetheUSBextensioncableinstead.

REMOvING THE AIRCARD 310U

NOTe: BeforeremovingtheAirCard310U,exitthe3GWatcher.

1. Double‑clickinthesystemtray.TheUnplugorEject Hardwareinterfaceisdisplayed.2. SelectthehardwarerelatedtotheAirCard310Uandclick Stop.3. Whentheprompt“It is safe to remove the device”is displayed,removetheAirCard310U.
