Keep it Simple - Stupid!

The entire basis of our design is to be simple. Why simple? Simpler styles have many advantages, such

as a much faster load time, a cleaner look, and a unique look.

Simpler is Better Have a look at these two sites, which one looks better, why?

In my opinion, the

Apple website is

better because it

can all be seen on

one page, without

scrolling, it has the

links neatly placed

in a very visable

position, unlike

Microsoft, which is

assuming that you

want to look at their index before going to another page, has lots of text, and weird link locations.

Evolution of Simplicity

Google is one of the simplest websites ever, and it always has been, with minor changes. This is the

progression from beginning to now. I do hope you get my odd layout…

Evolution of the unsimple Google’s main rival in search is Yahoo!. I don’t understand why anyone would use the horrible design of

the Yahoo! site when they have the wonderful Google to use.

Build the Simple It is possible, I’ve done it, MANY TIMES OVER.

DKuntz2 – Old Style My site’s old style had one of the quickest load times for a

site ever, because it only loads two or three images per page.

Even using a site with minimal graphics, you can make

something really cool. That is just a table, with background

colors set, plus the DK logo, plus the corner. In my opinion,

one of my best designs.

Now look at my current site, also fast, because it has a

minimal amount of images per page, only three. I have

the dkuntz2 text at the top, the picture in the table,

and the sides of the table [it’s just one image,

repeated]. That design is much better suited to my

needs, because it has room for a picture, something the

old site didn’t have, but also has the fast load time from

using minimal graphics.

Now let’s look at the Tech Club’s current site. This

index looks speedy, but it’s not, because I bogged it

down with all these extra jpg’s, that are only white

images, because otherwise, the table would fall…

This site however, if it were, as it will eventually,

function without the extra jpgs, it would look just as

nice, and be speedier.

This is an example of our main content pages. I

only have seven images on this page, the four

links, the logo, and the page title. I figured out

how to remove the extra pictures, so that all

the pages but the index have my speedy mark.
