General Safety Guidelines•Haveafirst-aidkitavailableforuseandknowhowtouseit.

•Haveafireextinguisheravailable,storedinahighlyvisiblelocationandknowhowtouseit.

•Wearappropriateprotectivegear.Thislistmayincludebutisnotlimitedto: – hard hat –protectiveshoeswithslipresistantsolesandsteelcaps –protectiveglassesorgoggles –heavygloves –wetweathergear –hearingprotection –respiratororfiltermask

•Read and understand the Operator’sManual and all safety decals before operating, servicing, adjusting,repairingorhitchingtheequipment.

•DonotattemptanyunauthorisedmodificationstoyourSouthernCrossAgMachineryproductasthiscouldaffectfunctionorsafetyandcouldaffectthelifeoftheequipment.

•NeveroperatetheRipperandorPipeLayerexceptfromtheoperator’sstationonthepowerunit.

•Inspectandcleantheworkingareabeforeoperating.Removeallobstructionssuchasrocks,stumpsandwire.

•Keephands,feet,clothing,andhairawayfrommovingparts.

•Ensurebystandersareclearoftheareabeforeoperating.Aminimumdistanceof100metresshouldbekeptfromallbystanderswhenRipperandorPipeLayerisinoperation.

•Never operate this equipment while using alcoholic beverages or drugs that can hinder alertness orcoordination.Consultyourdoctoraboutoperatingthismachinewhiletakinganymedication.

•Undernocircumstancesshouldchildrenundertheageof18beallowedtoworkwithoraroundthisequipment.Donotallowanyonetooperateorassemblethisequipmentuntiltheyhavereadandunderstoodthismanual.

•Thisequipmentisdangeroustoanyoneunfamiliarwithitsoperation.Theoperatorshouldberesponsible,properly qualified and physically able person familiar with farm machinery and competent in this equipmentsoperation.

•All new operators or owners must review the manual before using the equipment and at least annuallythereafter.

•Inordertoprovideaclearview,certainillustrationsinthismanualmayshowanassemblywithasafetyguardremovedequipmentshouldneverbeoperatedinthiscondition.Keepallguardsinplace.Ifguardremovalbecomesnecessaryforrepairs,reinstalltheguardspriortouse.

•Replaceanysafetydecalthatisnotlegibleorismissing.Thelocationsofsuchsafetydecalsareindicatedinthismanual.

•Neverexceedthelimitsofapieceofmachinery.Ifitsabilitytodoajob,ortodososafely,isinquestion–DON’T TRY IT.

•Avoidoperatingthemachineryinwetconditions.

•In addition to the design of this implement, safety decals and safety equipment, accident prevention isdependentupontheawareness,commonsense,forethoughts,andpropertrainingofeveryoneinvolvedintheoperation,transport,maintenanceandstorageofthemachine.Alsorefertosafetymessagesandoperatinginstructionsineachoftheappropriatesectionsofthetractormanual.PaycloseattentiontothesafetydecalsaffixedtothetractorandtheRipperandorPipeLayer.

Employer/Controller ResponsibilitiesOH&S legislationplacesobligationson the employer, or the controller of theRipper andor Pipe Layer, toidentify the hazards and control the risks associatedwith the use of theRipper andor Pipe Layer in theirworkplaceandtodosoinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’sinstructions.

WhenpurchasingaRipperandorPipeLayer:

•Ensurethemanufacturer’sinstructionsareprovidedatthepointofpurchase.

•Discussyourneedswiththesupplier,toensuretheRipperandorPipeLayeriscompatiblewiththepowerofyourtractorandisappropriatefortheintendedapplication.

•SeekpracticaladviceandinstructionfromthesupplierontheuseandlimitationsoftheRipperandorPipeLayer.Ifyouarehiring,leasingorborrowingaRipperandorPipeLayeronatemporarybasis,getsafeuseinstructionsfromthepersonsupplyingit.

•TheemployermustprovidesafetyinstructionstoallthoseinvolvedinusingaRipperandorPipeLayer.

•AcopyofsafetyinstructionsmustbekeptingoodconditionwiththeRipperandorPipeLayer.

•Generally, the safety instructions should be the manufacturer’s instructions. Any variations from themanufacturer’s instructionsmust be based on a risk assessment andmust not remove any of the safetyfeaturesnorexposeanyonetorisks.

Supervision, Instruction and TrainingTheemployermustprovidesafesystemsofwork,adequatesupervision,instructionandtrainingtoallthoseinvolvedinusingaRipperandorPipeLayer.TheymustbeinstructedinthesafeoperationoftheRipperandorPipeLayer,includinghazardsspecifictotheworkplace,includingtheterrain,stabilityofthetractor,workingenvironmentandthelike.TheemployershouldensurethateveryoneachievesalevelofunderstandingthatenablesthemtosafelyandcompetentlyoperatetheRipperandorPipeLayer.

Inspection, Maintenance and Repair•TheRipperandorPipeLayermustbeinspectedaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions,priortouse.

•Allproblemsidentifiedmustberectified,priortouse.

•TheRipperandorPipeLayermustbemaintainedaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.

•Replacementpartsmustbetotheoriginalmanufacturer’sspecificationsortheirequivalent.

•Safetysignsanddecalsshouldbelegible,maintainedandwherenecessaryreplaced.

•Repairsshouldbecarriedoutbyacompetentperson.

•WhensuspendingtheRipperandorPipeLayerformaintenanceorrepair,whetherattachedtothetractororsuspendedinanotherway,adequatesafetystandsmustbeusedtopreventinadvertentloweringoftheRipperand or Pipe Layer.

Service and Maintenance Safety•Stopengine,setbrake,removeignitionkeyandwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeservicing,adjusting,repairingorunplugging.

•Supporttheequipmentwithblocksorsafetystandsbeforeworkingbeneathit.

•Followgoodshoppracticesincluding: –keepserviceareacleananddry –besureelectricaloutletsandtoolsareproperlygrounded –useadequatelightforthejob.

•Useonlytools,jacksandhoistsofsufficientcapacityforthejob.

•Replaceandsecureallshieldsremovedduringservicingbeforeoperating.

•Useheavyleatherglovestohandlesharpobjects.

Start-up Safety•Donotletinexperiencedoperatorsorchildrenusethisequipment.

•Placealltractorandmachinecontrolsinneutralbeforestarting.

•OperateonlywithRollOverProtectiveSystem(ROPS)andseatbeltequippedtractors.

•Donotoperateinsideabuildingunlessthereisadequateventilation.

•Ensureallshieldsareinplaceandingoodconditionbeforeoperating.

OperationPrior touse, theRipper andorPipeLayer shouldbe inspected toensure it isworking correctly.All safetyfeatures must be included in this inspection. If any safety feature is not working correctly, the Ripperand or Pipe Layer must not be used. The Ripper and or Pipe Layer must be operated according to the manufacturer’sinstructions.

Theoperatormustensurethatno-oneisexposedtorisksarisingfromtheoperationoftheRipperandorPipeLayer.Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononhills.Avoidsuddenmovement,suddenbreaking,highspeeds,roughterrainandsteepslopes.

Additionalsafetycontrolsmayberequiredwhenoperatinginthevicinityofpeopleortraffic–e.g.alongsidehighways,roadsorotherpublicareas.

Where adjustable or removable guarding is provided for specific applications, such as vineyards andhorticulture,andtheguardinghasbeenremovedorisnolongereffective,appropriatecontrolmeasuresmustbeimplemented.Thesecontrolsmustensurethattheriskof injuryiseliminatedorcontrolled.BeforeusingaRipperandorPipeLayerinanapplicationotherthanthatoutlinedabove,theguardsmustbereadjustedorreplacedsoastobeeffective.

These instructions should be used in conjunction with local regulations regarding Occupational Health and Safety.

Operation Safety•Donotpermitriders.

•Donotwearloosefittingclothingduringoperation.

•Neveroperatetheequipmentintheraisedposition.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Priortouse,ariskassessmentmustbeundertakentodeterminetheappropriatePPErequired.AnyidentifiedPPEmustbeprovidedbytheemployerandmustbeusedbythoseinvolvedintheoperationandmaintenanceoftheRipperandorPipeLayer.ExamplesofPPEareappropriatefootwearandhearing&eyeprotection.

Storage and TransportWhennotinuse,theRipperandorPipeLayermustbetransportedandstoredaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.RequirementsmaydifferwhentransportingaRipperandorPipeLayerwithinapropertyandonapublicroad–youmustcomplywithallstatutoryrequirements.

Storage Safety•Storetheunitinanareaawayfromhumanactivity.

•Donotpermitchildrentoplayonoraroundthestoredmachine.

•Supporttheframeonstandsandblockstoprovideasecurebase.

Transport Safety•ReviewTransportSafetyinstructionsintractormanualbeforemoving.

•Checkwithlocalauthoritiesregardingtransportonpublicroads.Obeyallapplicablelawsandregulations.

•MakesuretheSMV(SlowMovingVehicle)emblemandallthelightsandreflectorsthatarerequiredbythelocalhighwayandtransportauthoritiesareinplace,areclean,andcanbeseenclearlybyallovertakingandoncomingtraffic.

•Neverhavetheequipmentinoperationduringtransport.

•Alwaystravelatasafespeed.

ModificationsARipperandorPipeLayershouldnotbemodifiedoraltered.However,ifitisnecessarytomakemodifications,theymustbedonebyacompetentpersonandbasedonariskassessment.

Beforeanymodificationsaredone,contactthemanufacturerorsupplier.

Anyonewhoundertakesmodificationssubsequentlyassumestheroleandresponsibilitiesofthedesignerandmanufacturer.

The instructions relating to the Ripper and or Pipe Layer and its usemay need to be revised following amodification.

AnymodificationsmadewithoutmanufacturersapprovalwillvoidWarranty.

Safety Signs•Keepallsafetysignscleanandlegibleandreplaceanythataredamagedormissing.

•When original parts are replaced, any safety signs affixed to those parts should be replaced as well.Replacementsafetysignsareavailablefromyourlocaldealer.

Installation of Safety Signs•Toinstallsafetysigns,ensuretheinstallationareaiscleananddry.Decideontheexactpositionbeforeyouremovethebackingpaper.Removethesmallestportionofthesplitbackingpaperandalignoverthespecifiedarea.Carefullypressinplace.

•Slowlypeelbacktheremainingpaperandsmooththeremainingportioninplace.Smallairpocketscanbepiercedwithapinandsmoothedout.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1Lineupthelowerlinkagearmswiththelinkagepinsoftheimplement,slidethelinkagearmsontothepinsandsecurewithlinchpins.

STEP 2Attachthetoplinktotheimplement.

STEP 3Theimplementshouldnotbeusedontractorsgreaterthanthatspecifiedinthe‘MachineSpecificationTable’(referpage01).

STEP 4Ensurethatanti-swaydevicesareconnectedtopreventimplementmovingfromsidetoside.Thesecouldbechainsorstabiliserbars.

STEP 5Ensurethattractordrawbardoesnotinterferewiththeripper.Itmayneedtoberemoved.

STEP 6Vibrationcanloosenbolts,socheckregularlythatallaresecure.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

Theory of Operation

CAUTIONDonotoperateclosetoundergroundservices.Ifyouareunsurepleasecontact“DialBeforeYouDig”telephonenumber:1100orvisitwww.1100.com.au.

Once youhave followed all safety procedures as outlined in thismanual, start the tractor and raise theimplementclearoftheground.Whenrippingalwaystravelinastraightline.Whenworkingonsteepslopes,trytoworkdownhilloracrosstheslope.Makesureyouselectalowgearwhenripping.Pleasenotedifferentsoiltypeswilldeterminethedepthofyourrip.Youmayneedtomakemorethanonepasswiththerippertoachievethemaximumdepthyouareafter.

Operation – Pipe LayerCheckthepipelayerisconnectedsecurely.Onlyusethepipelayeringroundthathaspreviouslybeenripped.

StoppingLower the implement, stop the tractor engine (taking out the ignition key) and apply the parking brake.Ensurethattheimplementisonthegroundorwellsupportedwhennotinuse.

MaintenanceWhendoingany typeofmaintenanceon this implement, always follow the safety stepsoutlined in thismanual.Serviceshouldonlybecarriedoutbyexperienced/qualifiedperson.UseonlyauthorisedSXMpartsforreplacement.

Theimplementmustbeadequatelysupportedunderitsbodyonall3pointlinkageimplements(ensureitcannotfall).

Checkallboltsandnutsaretightened.Ensureallpointsarereplacedwhenworn.

The Danger Symbol indicates an imminently hazardous situation that, if not avoided will result in death or serious injury. This signal word is to be limited to the most extreme situations, typically for machine components that, for functional purposes, cannot be guarded.

WARRANTY

SouthernCrossAgMachinerywarrantsalltheirproductsagainstdefectiveworkmanshipand,ormaterialsforaperiodoftwelve(12)monthsfromthedateofpurchase.Athree-yearextendedwarrantyprogramappliestogearboxessuppliedwiththefollowingproducts;RipperandorPipeLayers,finishingmowersandpost-holediggerssoldfromJune25th2009.ForattachmentsusedincommercialenterprisestheWarrantyperiodissix(6)monthsonallcomponentswiththeexceptionofcomponentsthatarenotincludedasperthedetailedlistedinthenextparagraph.Proofofpurchaseplusproofof thedefectwillberequiredandmustbereceivedbySouthernCrossAgMachinerywithinsevendaysofproductfailureandpriortotheendofthetwelve(12)monthperiodfromdateofpurchase.AWarranty Claim Form MUSTbelodgedthroughtheDealerwheretheitemwaspurchased. A Warranty Claim Number willbeissued.WorkcommencedwithoutaClaimNumberissuedandthereforewarrantyapprovalwillnotbecoveredbySouthernCrossAgMachinery.

SouthernCrossAgMachinery takes no responsibility for the repair of any products rendered defective ordamagedthroughnormalwearandtearorincorrectuseoftheproduct.SouthernCrossAgMachinerydoesnotprovidewarrantyonanycuttingblades,tilling/hoeblades,rippers,scarifiers,tynes,tyres,clutchplates,frictionplates,V-beltsandPostHoleDiggercuttingbits.SouthernCrossAgMachinerydoesnotprovidewarrantyonanyproductsthathaveundergonemodification.SouthernCrossAgMachineryreservestherighttodeterminewhethertheproductisdefective.SouthernCrossAgMachinerydoesnotacceptresponsibilityforanyproductwhichisdamagedintransit.FaultypartsmayneedtobereturnedtoSouthernCrossAgMachineryaspartoftheWarrantyprocess.Freightcostseachwaywillbepaidbytheowner/purchaseroftheproduct.

Purchasers,dealersoragentsoftheSouthernCrossAgMachineryproductarenotauthorisedtogivewarrantyonbehalf ofSouthernCrossAgMachinery.Claimswill onlybe recognised, if lodgedasoutlinedonpage29 in the Warranty Process.AnyworkcommencedwithoutSouthernCrossAgMachineryapprovalwillnotbehonoured.

Productspecificationsaresubject tochangedue toourcompany’spolicyof improvement.DesignchangesandimprovementsmaybemadebySouthernCrossAgMachinerywheneveritbelievestheeffectivenessofitsproductscanbeimproved.SouthernCrossAgMachineryhasnoobligationtoincorporateanyimprovementstoproducts,whicharecurrentlyinserviceorhavebeensupplied.

REGISTER YOUR WARRANTY

ToregisteryourWarrantypleaseensurethedealer fromwheretheproducthasbeenpurchasedcompletesthe Southern Cross Ag Machinery Installation / Warranty RegistrationForm.Thistripletdocumentneedstobesignedbythepurchaser.OnecopyremainswiththeDealer,onecopyneedstobemailedtoSouthernCrossAgMachinery(Rear18ParramattaRoad,HomebushNSW2140)andonecopywillremainwiththepurchaserforyour reference.

WARRANTY PROCESS

1.ContactyourdealerorpointofpurchasewhowillcontactSouthernCrossAgMachinery.

2.Photosandorvideofootagemayberequiredtoprocessyourclaimwithashortdescriptionoftheproblem.ThiswillbelodgedthroughyourdealerorpointofpurchasebythecompletionoftheSouthernCrossAgMachinery Warranty Claim Form.

3.TheclaimwillbeassessedbySouthernCrossAgMachinerytodeterminewhetherthewarrantyclaimwillbeapproved.ThiscantakeuptofiveworkingdaysfromwhenSouthernCrossAgMachineryisfirstnotifiedoftheproblemandproofofproductfailurealongwithWarranty Claim Formissupplied.

4. If the Warranty ClaimisapprovedaWarranty Claim NumberwillbeissuedtotheDealer.

5.AnyworkcommencedwithoutapprovalfromSouthernCrossAgMachineryandwithoutaWarranty Claim NumberwillnotbecoveredbyWarranty.RepairsmustbemadebySouthernCrossAgMachineryoranauthoriseddealer.SouthernCrossAgMachineryreservestheexclusiverighttodeterminewhetheritwillpaylabourcostsforwarrantyrepairsorreplacementsandtheamountofsuchcoststhatitwillpayandthetimeinwhichtherepairswillbemade.SouthernCrossAgMachinerywillnotapproveinvoicessentforrepairsthatSouthernCrossAgMachineryhasnotpreviouslyapproved.

6.TravelandfreightchargesassociatedwiththeprocessingoftheWarrantyClaimwillnotbecoveredbytheSouthernCrossAgMachineryWarrantyandistheresponsibilityoftheowner/purchaser.
