Aim

Theaimof the IEEE---IESFellowCommittee is toevaluatein an accurateandtimelymannerthe

candidates forIEEEFellowinanygivenyearwhoselecttheIESastheirevaluatingsociety.Composition

Thecommittee consistsofaChair,aViceChairandanywhere fromfivetotenevaluatorswhoareFellowsinthe

Industrial Electronics Society.Termsofthecommittee andmembership

The terms of the committeemembersare not fixed but rather based upon their abilityand willingnessto

devote their time and energyin serviceto the committee.The membershave to be IEEE Fellows and are

selected inamannerwhich ensures that theydonotplayanyother role intheFellow evaluation process, e.g.

asareference foracandidate.The Chair of the FellowCommitteeis selectedby the Presidentof the IES and the Chair is responsiblefor

selectingaViceChairandallthecommitteememberswiththeadviceandconsentoftheIESAdCom.Committee tasks

Based upon the guidelines provided by the IEEE, themembers of the Fellow Committee evaluate the

candidatesassigned by the Chair in concertwith the Vice Chair. The evaluationprocessinvolvesa critical

review of the candidate’s credentials as provided in the nomination form, and the completion of an online

questionnaireprovided by IEEE Headquarterswhich, in addition to providingan analysis of the candidate’s

record, asksforarankingofthecandidates. This information iscompiled bytheChairandViceChairandthen

theChairmustcomplete thefinalevaluation formthatisforwarded toIEEEforusebytheIEEEFellow

Committee intheirevaluations.Reporting lines

The IES Fellow Committee receives thematerial from IEEE Headquarters around the first ofMay ofeach year

andthefinalevaluations havetobesentinonlinetoHeadquarters nolaterthanJune15.

In addition, the Chair of the IES Fellow Committeesemiannuallyprovides a report to the IES AdCom on the

statusoftheCommittee’s work.Thisreport fallsunder theumbrella oftheIESPresident---electandissubmitted

Aim

The IES Finance Committee serves as an oversight and advisory body. The Committee shall establish financial

goals and procedures for the operations of IES, develop and implement the IES budget development process,

and project andmonitor the financial performance of IES activities. The IES Finance Committee is responsible

formakingrecommendationsonallfinancialmatterstotheIESAdComandforkeepingtheIESAdComfullyinformed

onallfinancial issues.Committee composition

The FinanceCommitteeis composedof the IES Treasurer(Chairman)and four membersof the IES AdCom

Aim

TheTechnicalActivitiesCommittee(TAC)coordinatesandplansthetechnicalactivitiesoftheIndustrialElectronicssociety.Itisresponsibleformaintainingthetechnicalinterestandprofileofthesociety.Besidesitsbasicfunctionoforganizing,qualitycontrol,andmanagingthesocietytechnicalactivities,theTechnicalActivitiesCommittee(TAC)suggeststoIESAdComthecreationofnewtechnicalcommittees.

CommitteecompositionIEShasseveraltechnicalcommittees(formoreinformationabouttechnicalcommittees,pleasefollowthelinkhttp://www.ieee-ies.org/members/technical-committees)coveringthetechnicalareasofinterestofthesociety.Thenumberofcommitteemembersisequaltothenumberoftechnicalcommitteechairs,theIESpresident,theVPTA,plusfour(4)otherhighlyrecognizedexpertsfromIndustryandAcademia.TheVicePresidentforTechnicalActivitiesistheChairoftheTechnicalActivitiesCommittee(TAC)ofIES,hereaftercalledIES-TAC.

TheIES-TACisconstitutedbythefollowingvotingmembers:

Termsofthecommitteeandmembership

Thetermofthetechnicalactivitiescommitteemembersislimitedto2years.ThetermofeachofthetechnicalcommitteeChairsislimitedto2years.ItispossibleforaTechnicalCommitteeChairtobeelectedforasecondconsecutiveterm,maximum,servingatthesameTechnicalCommittee.Toensurecontinuity,only50percentofthetechnicalcommitteechairsgetelectedornominatedeveryyear.Thetermofthefour(4)representativesandwell-knownexpertsexpireswiththetermoftheVPfortechnicalactivities(VPTA).

ForeachTechnicalCommittee,aslateoftwocandidatesforTechnicalCommitteeChairhastobesubmittedbytheVPforTechnicalActivitiestobevotedonbytheAdCom.

ThetwocandidatesshouldberecommendedtoVPforTechnicalActivitiesbycurrentTechnicalCommitteeChairnolaterthan28daysbeforethemeetingwheretheelectionswilltakeplace,afterconsultationwithTechnicalCommitteemembers,consideringcommonrotatingschemeorotherjustifiedcriterion.ThisconsultancyshouldpreferablyoccurduringaregularTechnicalCommitteemeeting.

IncaseoflackofreceptionoftheproposalfortheslateoftwocandidatesfornexttermTechnicalCommitteeChair,VPforTechnicalActivitiesshouldconsultwithIESmembersbelongingtotheTechnicalCommittee.

Committeetasks

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteetasksaretoplan,organizeandassumetotalqualitycontrolofalltechnicallyorganized,sponsored,andcosponsoredactivitiesbyIES.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommittee,constitutedbyhighlyspecializedexperts,proposestoIESAdComstrategicdirectionsontechnicalactivitiesdevelopmentandnewareastobeexploredfortheinterestofIESmembers.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteeplansthetechnicalactivitiestobeorganizedannuallyineachofIESscientificmanifestations(conference,workshop,etc..)andIESTransactionsandMagazines.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteecoordinatesandregulatestheflowofinformationandinteractionsbetweenmembersofthetechnicalcommitteeandtheIESforums(Conferences,Transactions,Magazine,etc.).

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteeevaluatesonanannualbasistheworkachieved,thelevelreachedandthequalityofactivitiesrealizedbyeachofitstechnicalcommittees.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteepreparesthemotionstoIESAdComforcreatinganewtechnicalcommittee,themergeroftwoormoretechnicalcommittees,orthedissolutionofatechnicalcommittee.

• TheTechnicalActivitiesCommitteepreparesthemotionstoIESAdComforcreatingnewregularsub-committeeswithinspecificTechnicalCommittees.Proposalforcreationofanewregularsub-committeeshouldcomefromthehostingTechnicalCommittee,supportedonasustainedrecordofaccomplishmentsinthetopic.TheproposalneedstobesupportedbyatleasttenIESmembersalsomembersoftheTechnicalCommittee.ATechnicalCommitteemembercanbepartofmaximumtwoTechnicalCommitteesub-Committees.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteetargetsspecificproblemsrelatedtothetechnicalcommitteeandtimelinesoftheexistingcommitteeandtheneedforanewtechnicalcommittee.

• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteepreparestimelyanannualoperatingbudget.• TheTechnicalactivitiescommitteehighlightstheneedtoreplaceatechnicalcommitteechairincaseof

misconductorconflictofinterest.
