Location: Engineering Operations Manager Angola JOB TITLE: Engineering Operations Manager REPORTS TO: Managing Director MANAGES: Engineering and Support Staff ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements. JOB SUMMARY: Generally, the Engineering Operations Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate engineering, operations and support business development activities for the assigned office and staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications. Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients. Direct, review, and approve project designs and changes. Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts. Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects. Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates. Requirements JOB STANDARDS: Requires a Bachelors degree in Engineering; Masters degree preferred. PE is a plus. At least twenty (20) years engineering experience with a minimum of fifteen (15) years in an upstream/offshore environment. Minimum of fifteen (15) years managing the work of other engineers, draftsmen and designers, support staff and business development professionals. Proven experience in motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models for the upstream/offshore production environment. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Extensive knowledge and experience dealing with international clients and a multi- national workforce.
