JOB TITLE: Engineering Operations Manager
REPORTS TO: Managing DirectorMANAGES: Engineering and Support Staff
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional overtime to include weekends asdictated by project requirements.
JOB SUMMARY:
Generally, the Engineering Operations Manager will plan, direct, and coordinateengineering, operations and support business development activities for theassigned office and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals anddirecting the integration of technical activities.
• Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
• Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
• Direct, review, and approve project designs and changes.
• Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee thedevelopment and maintenance of staff competence.
• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approvingexpenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materialsor services.
• Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of researchcontracts.
• Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess thefeasibility of projects.
• Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss projectspecifications and procedures.
• Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
Requirements
JOB STANDARDS:
• Requires a Bachelors degree in Engineering; Masters degree preferred. PE is aplus.
• At least twenty (20) years engineering experience with a minimum of fifteen (15)years in an upstream/offshore environment.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years managing the work of other engineers, draftsmenand designers, support staff and business development professionals.
• Proven experience in motivating, developing, and directing people as they work,identifying the best people for the job.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production ofprecision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models for theupstream/offshore production environment.
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning,resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, productionmethods, and coordination of people and resources.
• Extensive knowledge and experience dealing with international clients and a multi-national workforce.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff
